Plex Media Server Logs_2022-06-22_22-55-52.zip (5.2 MB)

Hi

I have been a plex user for about a year and a half and have never had any issues. Im not smart when it comes to most technology things so im suprised i got plex to run thus far. IT has become a huge passion of mine

I am stuck currently as of recent - my server remote access has been failing. Many of my family and friends say they cannot access my server and that is when i noticed the red X my remote access. Some people are able to stream but at poor speeds and it all says INDIRECT. It says my connection is insecure on their TVs but on my TV it works normally.

I have tried doing a port forward as that was a suggestion but there is no luck in it still working. I have tried the forums but there is no luck.
I have complained to my ISP and they are willing to assist but cannot contact plex

Please advise how i can go back to the old plex where everyone streamed normally. I have uploaded logs and desperatly trying to resolve this?

Do you think plex has blocked my access?

Please urgently assist :frowning:

It usually won’t require Plex to actively/maliciously block something… there’s already a lot of potential breaking points when it comes to remote access.

You could e.g. start checking if you can even see the router’s public IP address on the specified public port (from your port forward) outside your home network. You can do that using a service like canyouseeme.org.

If that fails it implies the issue is between your router and ISP – you could e.g. try a different public port to see if that particular one might be blocked by some party.

Okay I can see my public IP when I try on can you seems.org

Whats the next step? I’ve read the troubleshoot and it doesn’t seem to link to any issue for me

I feel like this is the end

Your logs look OK to me -

Your router responds to a UPnP request, and indicates what the public IP address is.
Plex asks the Plex Cloud what its apparent public IP address is, and it matches.

Can you share a screenshot of the port forwarding settings that you added?

On http://canyouseeme.org can it connect to port :32400?

Hi

Please see the below screenshot
Thanks for everyone assisting
Have i done the port forward correctly?
Or have i missed placed the values?

Port Error
I am notsure if i have done the port forward correctly
as there is an error as shown below on can you see me.org

That’s a good sign the port forward isn’t correct - which is good, because it might be fixable.

I’m looking for the manual for that device. It’s likely that Originating IP and Server IP Address should be modified.

YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER!
Let me know if there is anything more you require from me
I can give you the details
This is the port forward details
No clue what to add where?

Try:
Originating IP: Empty / Blank / Disable / 0.0.0.0
Server IP Address: 192.168.1.102
Protocol: TCP

Hi, its giving me an invalid IP address error and wont allow me to submit

It said i need to enter details in all the fields
so i tried 0.0.0.0 but it said invalid

Even if you uncheck/disable Configure Originating IP?

oh
i disabled that and it went through
what do i do next volts?

@Volts this is where im at

I have checked the server
People are still streaming below 1mbps
But the can you see me can see the port

If you look at the middle entry (MasterChef Australia), it’s picking up a direct remote connection (no longer streaming indirectly). If their streams were going on while you were tweaking the router configuration, it might not take immediate effect on those ongoing streams.

That’s great - and confirms that port forwarding is working.

Existing streams won’t automatically be upgraded while they’re playing, and a remote client might need to be restarted so it discovers the working remote connection.

Volts you have been amazing thus far
Going to reboot plex server and get back to you shortly

Shouldn’t need to reboot the server.

Some clients test the server connection when the app is launched, and won’t detect changes until they are restarted/relaunched/rebooted.

You can probably also test from a mobile phone, just disconnect from WiFi.

Dear volts
YOU HAVE BEEN A GAMECHANGER to me

plex kats

So for the first time in over a month, a user, other than myself is streaming over 1mbps. Its literally 2 am here so only one person is watching

My cellphone on mobile data is still under 1mbps. Im going to blame that on cellular signal and avoid the thought of it being stuck under 1mps.
Going to test it properly tomorrow and ask a few people to try watching

Hopefully this was the last stepping stone and its working fine after this
Fingers and toes crossed!!! @Volts

Glad that’s working better!

Something else to check on - in the Plex server, are these set reasonably?
Settings → Remote Access → Internet upload speed
Settings → Remote Access → Limit remote stream bitrate

And of course client players ALSO have quality settings!
