Trying to setup my Father-in-law to have access to my Plex server. He’s downloaded the latest version of the plex app on his tv (Samsung UN55F8000) and I’ve linked his tv to the account. However when he tries to open my PC to view any media he gets an error saying my PC is unavailable. My local clients area ll able to play and I am unable to get remote access to enable for longer than a few seconds. It stayed on for approx 10 min but has since disabled and hasn’t turned on. Logs are attached

Do you have port forwarding set up on your router?
So far as i can tell, I’ve forwarded ports 32400 to 32469 (i saw in a few other threads that it may help to expand the range)
This issue had to do with ubiquiti access points and the optimization setting enabled. I disabled this setting, and it seemed to resolve the issue.
you don’t really need a range but the internal port needs to be 32400. and you need to pick the external one to add to the remote access setting of the server that tells plex.tv which to use.
Internal = Private and External = Public?
I’m checking the port forwarding on the router an there doesn’t look to be any internal/external
Yes public=external. Private= internal. Different brands of routers call them different thing
Both of them could have ranges but if your router does that just put the same number as both. So external/public might look like 32469-32469 and internal/private 32400-32400
Basically plex.tv tells your dad’s tv your external IP and the external port to look for your server. When it gets to your house your router tells it which computer to find it on by forwarding it to the computers local IP and port( which is always 32400)
If you can say what model router you have or what ISP other folks might have the same and be able to be more specific with help
I’m using Shaw for an ISP and the router is a Hitron. Here’s a screen grab of my port set up. I’m not entirely sure why there are 4 Plex entries.
