Remote Upload Speed setting is missing under Settings/Remote Access

Server Version#: Synology 1.41.3.9314
Player Version#: Sonos S1

According to the docs, there’s supposed to be. setting for upload speed under /Settings/Remote Access. But the only settings I have there are to enable remote access and to set the private to public port mapping. Has this setting moved somewhere else in this version? I think I’ve clicked through all the submenus on the left pane and haven’t been able to find it.

An active Plex Pass is required to access that setting:

See the note in green under in the “Internet upload speed” section.

Thanks! Not sure how I missed that…

You’re welcome!

Anyone know what the default/max upload speed is without this option? I’m happy to get Plex Pass, but I want to know if it’s actually going to help first.

My experience is that there is no limit/max if this value is not set.

Remember, these settings (Internet upload speed and Limit remote stream bitrate) are about setting limits, putting some guardrails in place to prevent your Internet upload from becoming saturated with Plex traffic, and to prevent any single user or small number of users from using all available bandwidth.

For example, if your maximum upload bandwidth from your ISP is 500 Mbps but you only want Plex to use half of it, you would set the “Internet upload speed” to 250. And if you further wanted to limit any one stream to consuming no more than 20 Mbps, you would select that for “Limit remote stream bitrate.”

This would allow you to have ~12 users streaming at 20 Mbps at any given time. (There could be more if some users are streaming at lower bitrates.)

Also be aware that there are client-side settings which affect remote stream quality as well, but the server settings set hard limits.
