Remote users hang on buffering

Server Version#: 1.27.0.5849-7000
Player Version#:
My Plex server is hosted on a Synology NAS with a 500/500 fiber connection to the outside and with remote access enabled and active. Port forwarding it enabled on my router to pass Plex traffic directly to the NAS on port 32400. Shared media plays fine inside my network but anyone trying to stream remotely hangs with a constant buffering indicator. This happens with invited friends as well as users with their own accounts. Remote users can see shared content, but when they attempt to play anything the download buffers and hangs, never playing anything. I’m played with the remote access settings with no luck. What am I missing? Thanks!

You set the network (upload) limit. (450 Mbps?)

They, in each of their app settings, set the REMOTE QUALITY.
On most apps, the remote quality defaults to a very low value.
If you can support giving them “Original” / “Maximum” quality, do so.

Also remember to have them set subtitles to “Automatic”. This will let their players do as much as possible (Synology NAS systems do not have a good processor when it comes to subtitle burning)
