Remote?

Do someone have any good remote to recommend?

I hate to use my cellphone or ipad.

I got rev 2 of rasperry pi.

I use a flirc IR receiver... it will take any IR from most (if not any) standard remotes and map it to any keystroke...

So with my samsung TV, it maps to the samsung DVD functions built in.  It acts as a native USB keyboard with the config stored on the USB... so no need to rebuilt if changing out setups regularly.

I use a tiny keyboard from Plexgear, smaller than a PS2 gamepad (and flatter).

This is connected to the RPi by a small USB 'dongle' RF receiver.

The keyboard is powered by two AA batteries, which can last a year or more (has for me).

Since it is a fairly complete keyboard, despite its small size, it offers all keyboard control features you'd have when running PHT from a desktop computer.

I'm a fan of this if you don't mind a keyboard. I have another more general media center one I've not tried yet.

But this has a full keyboard w/ full F## keys. CTRL/ALT/DEL...etc. The trackpad is nice cause you dont have a ball or need a level service or any laser reflecting service and the ball wont be loose to still move a cursor.

It has a laser to mess around w/ any cats you may have and the battery life is astonishing.

The USB dongle also hides inside the unit and while the unit will sleep, it has a hard on/off toggle if you want to get even more life of it. Rechargeable via standard USB and backlit keyboard.

I bought mine in a shop here in Stockholm, part of the Swedish 'chain' "Kjell & Company".

Previously I thought Plexgear was an international brand that they just imported, but closer checking shows that it apparently is their own brand (though their ads call it a 'partner' brand).

The label on the back says:

                  Plexgear
Wireless Palm Style Keyboard with Touchpad
Art.No: 98788
SN: 12060803961
Rating: 3.0V === 15mA
Made in China

Mine is a swedish keyboard (different layout + åäöÅÄÖ characters), so you'll probably want one with slightly different 'Art.No'.

But since "Kjell&Company" is a Swedish company I'm not sure if they have it with other national layouts.

On the other hand, since the keyboard is made in china it's very possible that it really is a chinese product, simply rebranded by "Kjell&Company" as "Plexgear".

It's a funny coincidence though, that the keyboard I use almost exclusively for a Plex client has that brand name...

I use HDMI-CEC with my TV remote and it works fine.
