When recording shows, the destination library is provided as an option to send the recording to once saved. In our case we have libraries that are not intended to be used to save from Live TV, they are only used for content that we already own.
Because of this, there is some confusion and the wrong library ultimately gets selected and content gets lost (or at least difficult to find).
Is there a way to remove certain libraries as candidate recording destinations?
Unfortunately not. All libraries of a fitting type are offered as destinations.
All you can do is to make the non-DVR folders write-protected to Plex.
Of course this will make the recording job fail, if the wrong destination is set.
When you change the destination it becomes the new default for everything new that is recorded. Unfortunately existing recording jobs will go where they went before - unless you change them.
When I started I made two new Library Folders, one each for Shows and Movies. I guess I was lucky.
