Remove old Plex startup logo from LG webOS App (both old and new logos appear slowing app start up)

Everytime I start the Plex app on my LGC9 I see the old Plex logo then the new Plex logo. Can the app be updated please to only show the new logo?

It is not slowing the app startup time.

There are two parts to the Plex app on LG TVs.

The app stored on the TV is a loader app. When launched, it downloads the full app over the Internet. *

The loader app still has the old logo. The full app has the new logo.

Both logos always displayed. It just wasn’t obvious until the new logo was introduced.

* Look at the Plex app version in the LG store. That’s the loader app. Look at the version in your list of Authorized Devices. That’s the full app, currently 5.41.1.

So it is downloading the app everytime I open it? Also, it shows this is the most current version in the LG app store on the TV.

There may be situations where it does not download every time. For example, if you use the Plex app, turn the TV off, then turn it back on and use the Plex app again. Turning the TV off really just puts it to sleep, so the app could still be in memory.

However, if the TV loses power, you run several other apps then relaunch Plex, or something similar, expect that the app would download again the next time you launch it.

In the LG Content Store on my B7, the Plex app is v5.0.1, updated on 4/14/2021. This is the version of the loader app.

My Authorized Devices shows v5.40.0, the version of the full app.

The app was updated yesterday to 5.41.1. Plex usually performs staged rollouts based on geographic region. You should get the update in a day or two.
