Removing all files from a library and updating it doesn't clear the contents

I noticed that when I have a library with one or more existing files if I add or remove a movie and rescan it, the library updates as expected.

However, if I remove all the files regardless if only one exists and rescan, the library doesn’t update. All the old files remain, it is as if the rescan cannot empty a library.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

if your goal is to empty a library, you should probably just delete the library and create a new one

correct its Plex’s version of a sanity check, if it finds no files in a library it makes the assumption that something went wrong and the drive is missing and wont empty it.
