I recently changed the name of a large music folder. The links to the old name show up through Plex. I have run the update function and these links still reside showing duplicate names one from the old file and one from the new file.
Is there a way to delete the dead linked files?
Do you have Empty trash automatically after every scan selected in server library settings ?
You could also on the server home page in plex web, select the ‘…’ and then ‘Clean Bundles’ followed by ‘Empty Trash’

The problem was that I had a folder that was filled with bad data. I cleaned the files and renamed the folder and the old file names still appear with dead links of course. will the clean bundles and empty trash remedy this?

I think doing a library update followed by clean bundles and empty trash should do it

Hi, I just checked the folder that has 31k of files with dead links. All the files are there. Bundles were cleaned and trash emptied and this folder is still there and populated. How can i delete this folder [picture attached]

What is the path of the folder?

The picture shows one of the folders that does not exist. I renamed a folder, fixed all the genres and Plex still has references to all the songs with the incorrect genres. These references point to a folder that does not exist as the name has changes
Go to Edit library and double check your folder paths. If one of the folders is empty, this can cause issues. Also, if there is a path to folder that is non-existent, this can cause problems.
Thank you. How do I delete these folders in Plex since no such folder exists on my hard drive. Plex copied this folder and it still shows this folder in the folder view. I couldn’t see in the folder view where i can delete it. If i am missing it please point me in the direction of deleting this file.
Edit library. go to Add folders, and click on the X for any folders you have listed that you do not want to scan and/or do not exist.
