I just have a quick question about Extras and Featurettes. I tried using the inline method by adding “-featurette” to the file name, but it always showed up as a another version of the same file. The only way to play it would be to use the “Play Version” option.
So recently, I tried the “Featurettes” sub folder method instead which has been working. It displays the main video like it should and then below the credits it shows the “Extras” which is perfect.
Old Way that didn’t work:
…\Movies
----…\Movies\Some Movie (1980)
--------…\Movies\Some Movie (1980)\Some Movie (1980).mkv
--------…\Movies\Some Movie (1980)\Some Movie [Director’s Cut]-featurette (1980).mkv
New way that does work:
…\Movies
----…\Movies\Some Movie (1980)
--------…\Movies\Some Movie (1980)\Some Movie (1980).mkv
--------…\Movies\Some Movie (1980)\Featurettes
------------…\Movies\Some Movie (1980)\Featurettes\Some Movie [Director’s Cut] (1980).mkv
The issue I’m having is that I can’t seem to remove or rename Extras once they’re added. I need to rename some of them but it doesn’t seem to work. It shows the old filename and when I click on it, it fails to play because it can’t find it.
IE: I rename this:
…\Movies\Some Movie (1980)\Featurettes\Some Movie [Director’s Cut]-featurette (1980).mkv
To this, since the “-featurette” part of the filename isn’t needed:
…\Movies\Some Movie (1980)\Featurettes\Some Movie [Director’s Cut] (1980).mkv
I also tried removing the entire Featurettes sub-directory, rescan and then put it back. But it still shows the original name and won’t update the extras. I would prefer not to have to plex dance the whole movie folder just to update the Extras if possible.
Is there anyway to update the Extras without doing a Plex dance on the entire movie?
Thanks
