I have enabled optical media playback, but it does not seem to work with all dvds. I understand that this may have something to do with some library files that need to be updated. Is it possible to do this with files from XBMC?
I think you’ve misunderstood exactly what’s involved here 
The library files that need updating are part of the source code. To make it work, you’d need to modify the source of the application to include the new libraries & fix any incompatibilities they introduce. You can’t just take one bit of a compiled application & stick it into another.
of course noodle boy if you want to grab the plex source off github and integrate (and stabilize and test and bug hunt) new versions of libcdio, libdvdcss and libdvdnav, you are more than welcome to.
Yeah after doing some digging around I realise its a bit of a stupid question.
Guess I'll just have to wait for 0.84 and hope for the best.
I may just do that (if I can scrape together some time), or at least have a look around.
Plex is almost perfect.
.8.5 (.4 was nuked) doesnt contain any dvd fixes im pretty sure, and before you start wading into the dvd playback code id ask around because there’s probably already someone working on it, either for .9 or for later in the 8 series.
