Currently plex looks and in some cases is completely different depending on the device. Like if you don’t have an xbox one you lose out on a lot of cool new things that you do not have on roku or google tv. If your going to release something could you make it standard on all devices. Do not mean to complain just feel left out not having an xbox one.
But the different devices have different abilities.
You can't get the capabilities of the XBox one on the Roku, impossible to do.
plus the Roku interface is due to Roku's SDK limitations.
Plus, Plex apps mostly respect the design guidance of the platform they're on. I would really hate to see an iOS style app on my windows phone for example (I'm looking at you Untappd).
I understand that… But, there needs to be a basic layout that works for all… And you need to have the same features on all devices… I’m sure we all pay to use these features… Not on just one device that has it but, to know you have them on all devices. And I use roku as a example I do not even have one I mostly use PHT and google tv.

so, a $100 Roku should decide the features available on a $500 xbone or a $1000 pc just to maintain feature parity?
Or you adopt the xbone layout over all clients, which now rules out clients like nuc's, mac minis, any old PCs, which although they have the CPU decode power to play everything, they don't have the GPU ooomph to drive the UI.
You're living in a bit of a dream bubble here. If you want feature and UI parity across all devices, then you are also going to be aiming very low and building to the lowest denominator.
I'm all for the current implementation although I do have one request. Could we get a nifty little comparison chart on here somewhere (that's kept up-to-date) detailing each feature and which platforms / clients it's supported on? Just so newcomers can select their home media infrastructure to best suit their feature requirements. Perhaps even provide a screenshot or two of each UX.
I'm a little lost as to the actual argument here to be honest. I can understand that apart from tweaking to conform to platform design recommendations apps benefit from conformity if only to aid brand recognition, but Plex does that. Across all apps I've used the same colour scheme is used- dark greys, blacks, and orange. The same sections appear on the home screen (albeit sectioned / navigated according to platform UX specs). While features differ across devices (due to device capability) for the most part they can all handle the basics. What more would anyone want? I know I would never want my Windows 8.1 experience to feel like I'm using an iOS device, or to mimic a Roku experience.

Because for some devices, the basics are so basic as to be laughable - and that's got nothing whatsoever to do with device capability.
For example, while PHT allows browsing of Music by Album and Artist, the Windows 8.1 App and the Windows Phone App only allow browsing by Artist.

I agree on this last part. All the clients should have the same options and provide the same information. For example:
On the Roku I can force direct play, on Android I have to change the profile to do it, on the WebApp it is not even an option.
Similar to the browse by being different, the filter list is different and in a different order between devices.
WebApp shows all cast members, Roku just list what fits on 1 line, the Android app shows only the leading star.
thank you that's one point I've been trying to get across.Because for some devices, the basics are so basic as to be laughable - and that's got nothing whatsoever to do with device capability.

again another point.... I guess I just did not explain it very well. Thanks for the inputI agree on this last part. All the clients should have the same options and provide the same information. For example:

Early 2021 clean-up: implemented (l&f across platforms is growing closer and closer together; basic layout on same-type apps such as mobile vs. big screen are the same)
