Fairly self explanatory. Need a "Maintenance" flag option in PMS that would relay to my.plex to stop remote streams and display a "Server Under Maintenance" to users that try to stream remotely.
I know that people have previously asked for a way to display "messages" to remote users for scenarios where they will be rebooting the server or doing extended maintenance, but I am looking for something simpler.
A simple flag that redirects RU's to a generic maintenance message should be fairly simple to implement since they all have to route via my.plex anyways.
I made a section with nothing in it, named it "under construction" and go to sharing take away the other sections and only add that empty section. It's the only work around I could think of for now.
The problem, if you stop to think about it, is that PMS has to still be up and accessible to see your "under construction" section. Add to that, removing and later resetting permissions (for countless server hosts And their subsequent shares), would collectively take more time that it would to implement such a small feature, that would have many future uses in and of itself.
It is not about laziness, or even blatant rudeness of people who think they are helping...
As for mailing lists, while a viable option, is something that is outside of Plex. What I am requesting is self contained to the application and server management features.
I’m well aware of everything you just typed. I asked what your other options are until this is implemented. If this were implemented then I would have never brought it up, and I certainly wouldn’t be doing it myself.
