this will be a plex pass only option to drive more subscribers but I’d like to see an additional option added when setting up a new library to choose the devices this library will be visible from. The device has to already be in the devices section to show up in the list, it will default to all devices but you can choose specific devices if the library contains private material.
It’ll be more of a privacy setting for your admin profile if you have no need for managed users eg its just you and your significant other in your house, but you may log into your account at other people’s houses, like your parents.
Like most plex pass users I saw the power of this server and apps and bought the Plex pass with the means to have a home server setup to house all my media and photos without needing to rely on an outside company not knowing if they’d snoop in my stuff. With that you’ll most likely have media that you’d rather keep private and having this option would allow you to add an additional amount of privacy to your account.
The only issues I see are if you allow your home devices and have friends over the libraries will still show. That might just be a matter of adjusting the devices list beforehand no plan is perfect but I believe this would be a feature alot of people would use and sign up for Plex pass to get the feature.
