Request for Improvements to the Plex Client Experience // mod: Android TV ffw/rew usability

Respected Plex team,

I am a loyal user of your product and greatly appreciate the efforts you have made to improve our media playback experience. However, I have encountered some issues with the user experience and efficiency during my use, and I hope you can take them into account and make improvements.

Firstly, I would like to talk about the display method for fast forwarding. Currently, when we fast forward in the Plex client, a circle appears to indicate the progress. However, this circle is not intuitive. We hope to change it to a progress bar as it would be easier to see the current playback position and how much time is left before the end. This design will not only improve the playback experience but also facilitate faster and more direct control over fast forwarding and rewinding. Currently, we have to press twice to operate the progress bar, which is too cumbersome.

Secondly, I hope the Plex client can support automatically skipping the opening credits. This feature has already been available in many other players, and for us Plex users, it would be a practical addition. We often watch a lot of movies, and the opening credits are usually information we have already seen before the broadcast starts. Therefore, automatically skipping the opening credits can save us time and improve efficiency. [mod-edit: duplicate; see link posted below]

Which type of “Plex Client” are you using?
Most of the officially supported Plex clients already have a way of showing you the position within a movie’s timeline.

Are you talking about “movies” or about episodes of a TV show (series)?

For the Android TV. Hopefully the TV series can skip the opening titles automatically without having to press the remote control

As for the jumping forward:
while playback is in progress, press “OK” once.
This will bring up the player controls.
Now go “Up” once. This will move the focus onto the timeline.
Now use the “Right” and “Left” buttons to move rapidly on the timelime.
