It’s hopeless if they will not roll back the ROKU app. I tried hooking up a mini PC and using the Windows app. That still works and you can refuse the updates. That cured it for now until the ROKU app is rolled back or PLEX just goes down the tubes. By the way, you can remove all the other junk on the PC version still. I just ordered a wireless mouse. That should make it less clunky and a lot easier to use. the Keyboard is seldom needed anyway.
Who’s ready to file a class-action lawsuit against Plex for this new UI change? We the paying consumers have every right to control the products we pay for, and if the companies won’t make what we want, then we sue them for a full reimbursement, and cut all funding to them, and watch their company flounder as all investors pull out of them
No remembering tabs on libraries, so whenever you change you’re back to the default view, whatever you’ve set it as. Takes even more time to navigate, impossible to quickly or efficiently check between different libraries
There’s a new setting to set this… the “remember last view” is gone and replaced by “set default view” (or something similar). If you prefer Browse, or Recommend you can set that as your default. This came up in the beta and is one of those some will like the change and others. For some it’s a better setup and for some it’s worse.
One problem with this release is they didn’t update documentation or provide any real “here’s how to do what you’re used to doing” guide at all. Plex is horrible about providing documentation because they think posting a comment in a forum thread is the same as announcing it to everyone.
Yeah, that’s exactly my point. I know about that option, but it is far less useful than remembering tabs.
Sorry, but who exactly is less functionality a “better setup” for?
In this specific case, for me, it’s better.
I never use the “recommend” tab and rarely browse collections tab (though I do use a lot of collections, just don’t browse them often) so I always want to start at the “Browse” tab when I navigate to a library. I get annoyed when I go to my library screen and have to switch it from Collections because I forgot to flip back to Browse before returning to Home Screen. It was minor but annoying. This new setting means, no matter what tab I last used, it’ll start at the browse tab. I like that better but that’s just my preference and I know others won’t like it that way.
Honestly there was no reason they couldn’t have given folks both ways - remember last or set default - but Plex, I think, wants “uniformity” of resource management and this would be an easy account level single setting to manage (one default option) rather than client level dynamic setting (which tab was last used on this client). Plex is likely focusing on less to manage which equates to less resources required which equates to cost savings… probably. Not defending it, just reasoning it because if you get the right reasons sometimes you can argue it better.
Same findings - no theme music. Over all new app is terrible!

Yeah this one was a bit painful to not get back in place for the release, but it is on our fast follow list and should get in soon.
please remove the dumb “season 1” or whatever season your are in in a TV show as tho its an episode. First, why is that even there, second there is a bug that if you click on that icon, the arrow keys stop respond and you have to use the back button to get out of that show and season. Once you back button out, the arrow keys start responding again. if you return to that show, the arrow keys stop responding again. So 1) please either remove that listing of “Season #” from each season, as its confused and serves no apparent purpose I can tell, or give us the option to disable and remove it in settings. 2) it’s just a trap for that bug. I REALLY hope you address that.
I’m there with ya’ … I just had the preview\beta to work through some of it myself already.
If you wanna hit a topic specifically about this please keep this topic about it active! It’s my biggest personal annoyance so with more voices in that specific topic about it maybe it’ll change, but the response from Plex on it seems like probably not.

I’m sorry but this is just delusional.
First off sue for what? How have you been damaged? If you’d paid in the past you can just quit paying now going forward. The product you paid for still exists. You still have access to your servers. You still have the exact same items provided to you as you did in the past. It’s not like they yanked any and all possibility to stream from your own servers. They’re still giving you what you pay for (although without seeing a Plex Pass next to your name I am wondering what if anything you are paying for).
And why would you be entitled to a reimbursement? For what? Because they gave you what you wanted but now it’s different going forward?
Good luck hunting down a lawyer willing to even listen to you trying to make a case over moving pixels around on an app while still giving you what you “paid” for.
I do not have access to the same things I had before, my entire server is completely missing from this new interface, can’t navigate the over 40 libraries in my server, all my content, over 2 TB is completely unusable, so ■■■■ Plex and everyone working at it and everyone defending this idea
Not sure what’s going on with your system, but I have two Roku devices and they both work fine. I also have four friends accessing my server with a mix of Roku boxes and Roku TVs, and they are all working fine. And none of them have told me they are having problems with the new version. I even emailed them to invite questions, and it seems they are all happy.
I’m mentioning this not to diminish your frustrations, but to say it’s not the complete disaster that some people seem to think it is.
I moved to Jellyfin and holy ■■■■ does it kick the crap out of Plex! It runs so much faster! Immediately starts playing the content the moment I press the item, no waiting 10 seconds for Plex to do god knows what in the background and murdering my CPU. Everything is laid out beautifully, it’s got way more features, better settings and plugins to use, and, it’s completely free, no subscriptions for any of these features. It literally punches Plex into the dirt so hard that they come back out the other side of the planet. I’m never coming back to Plex after this experience on Jellyfin

thank you for fixing the play button issues when clicking on the season that seems to work better however I still cannot favorite my libraries
I have 6 libraries on my main server I have a secondary server with 1 library (this library is completely empty I will explain that issue in a bit)
and I have connections to several friends servers with there libraries showing up maybe another 10 libraries split between 2 servers
When I go to the home page I dont see any of my content (no libraries favorited so that makes a bit of sense) when I go to the libraries tab I see all of them I scroll to the end and hit the … button and it takes me to the page to favorite I select my 3 libraries I primarily use (TV shows, movies and other (live TV recordings of football games from my DVR))
everything looks good I hit the back arrow and go to libraries
Now here 1 of 2 things happens
either I see 2 libraries selected first one is random second one is always the last one selected
or I just see the last one selected
I do not see all 3
Now if I scroll back to my homepage I see content from my libraries BUT it is only the content from the Last selected item in the favorite list
Now I return to the libraries section and I only have 1 item favorited (the last item)
Things I have tried
restart the plex app
sign out completely and sign in again
restart the roku
sign out of plex uninstall the app and reinstall and sign in again
clear the secret cache on roku
I have tried on 3 different roku models (roku ultra, roku streaming stick and roku streaming stick+)
What is also interesting is that if I exit the plex app and come back in no matter what I selected it resets to showing all libraries again
I have also tried hitting the * button on the libraries when they are all up and “un favoriting” the library but that appears to do nothing at all for me. I can add a video or pictures if needed please feel free to reach out I would love to get this sorted
As for the empty library what I found was that when you have 2 DVRs that have overlapping channel definitions things dont show up real well in live TV. I have a standard tuner with 80+ channels from an antenna and then I am using ersatzTV to setup an IPTV channels of my own content (usually just kids shows and movies on random repeat) I have to run the ersatz on a second plex server so that in plex it shows up as 2 different DVrs rather than mixing them all up in 1. But what I found is that I cannot share the Live TV to my managed accounts for my kids unless I share at least 1 library from that server. Hence creating an empty library just so I can share nothing so they can get the Live TV from that server. I am not sure if the empty library has anything at all to do with this just thought I would throw it out there

The following issue is present on Plex version 8.6.5.10604eea6e6ca15 for Roku. Not sure how long it has been an issue.
I watched Moana 2 recently, which has a mid-credits scene. I tried to fast-forward through the first part of the credits, but when I pressed play to try to catch the beginning of the mid-credits scene, it instead brought me to the screen is shows when the movie is over, as if I pressed the skip credits button but I didn’t. I wasn’t able to replicate this behavior on a movie that didn’t have a mid-credits scene. And I didn’t try a bunch of movies with mid-credits scenes.
