Hey. Please add the ability to add Posters to the Folder-View ..
This could be really helpful for example for Home-Movie & -Picture Sections...
But also for every other non-supported Section... Like for StandUp-Comedy and Entertainment(YouTube)

I’ve been hoping for this feature for a long time.
Still nothing…
How about just reading an existing folder.jpg and displaying that?

Ain’t gona happen. It is against Plex’s philosophy to add functionality. However, as I said elsewhere, because this also would make Plex prettier it does have a chance. Plex has a firm bias toward pretty.
in addition to the ability to add custom posters it would be cool if plex per default created folder posters automatically based on the posters of the folder content.
Yes, please add this feature soonest! I have lots of personal movie clips and other stuff I want to organize by folder and use posters.
I want to see the folder view - no use to me without it
Been reading forums for some time for answers since I’m new to Plex before I post questions. This would be a great feature to include. As a new lifer for Plex pass I hope it comes soon. I would also like to add that the biggest issue for me is having subdirectories for movies like Fast and the furious 1-7 in the same folder to avoid cluttering of my home page. If it was done like the TV seasons that would be nice. What’s really bad is I have like 15 different Godzilla movies…That’s a lot of scrolling.
Hey,
Still an old request, but simple to implement…
In my case I have a folder of a studio and inside I do have all of them, when I use the folder view, I would like a poster for that folder.
Cheers,
I second this feature too. For me personally it’s even more important to have music album posters in folder view. Since all my music album folders have “folder.jpg” or “Cover.jpg” files it would be nice to see them in Plex UI.
I’ve seen how it works in JRemote (JRiver MC iOS client) and looking forward to see same implementation in iOS Plex app and web app too.
Old post but figured i’d help pray for this to become possible

this would be a great feature
Some things don’t fit into the Plex media structure,
In particular things like sporting events, these have to be browsed by folder and being able to specify the poster for the folder would be ideal.
Frankly, this isn’t rocket science and most “players” recognize the user desire to have their own cover art on occasion… I really hope this happens someday. Fields of grey folder icons look horrible…
funny… emby does support this - once again
Thanks for saying an alternative to plex. I will check it out as I will not use plex because of the lack of such a simple feature. Wish I wouldn’t have spent money on Plex before discovering it uselessness to me.
i like the idea of posters for folder view. for collections it would save time from having to go into the settings for each movie in collections and manually inputting what collection it belongs to, cause the automated feature for creating collections is so off base as to what belongs to a spacific collection it’s not even remotely funny.
This is my situation as well. Big collection of sporting events, and folder view is the only efficient way to categorize. Combine the lack of folder image capability with the lack of list view capability…and now the shrunken icons (and less visible text unless you wait for the text to crawl)…
We need either folder images, list view added, or at minimum the status bar at bottom that used to show the title of the selected menu item.
this is from my request, didnot see this thread…
