My request is simple:
Please make the Video Quality setting a server side one.
I encode all my media to a fixed standard to make sure most players will be able to direct play/direct stream.
Also, most of my family and friends are using high speed internet of at least 100 Mbps.
The current server side setting Limit remote stream bitrate set to Original (No limit) should do the job. If the server owner knows the bandwidth is enough, no reason to hurt the server even more by transcoding to 2 Mbps 720p by default (PlexWeb)
If the user then sets a lower limit, by all means. She/he might be on a mobile/limited connection and I can understand the reason.
But making the default so restrictive is bad. Making the setting hidden behind a Show advanced button is even worse.
