Request: timer setting for “missing” files to not add to recently added

Hi all, been using Plex now for about 11 years and one of my biggest gripes has always been how it handled files that were removed and then re-added.

I just had a hard drive go out so I had to recover all my files. Meanwhile Plex removes all the media because it’s missing. When I add back the recovered files on a new hard drive, all the movies are added back as a new movie.

Can we have a setting where any deleted or missing file that is found within a certain timeframe doesn’t wind up on the recently added? I now have about 300 movies that are marked as recently added but they are all old existing movies.

Thanks!

I can see how that’s a decent temp solution when I lose a hard drive to disable that setting until everything is added back.

I’ve never disabled that setting, what are the long term impacts?

After purposely removing files and rescanning your library, you’ll need to manually empty the library’s trash.
