I read in another thread that there was a vote requesting a WiiU App be created, but I couldn't find one anywhere, so here it is!
While the WiiU currently works with the web app, it's not without its faults.
In my experience, it's very laggy to navigate, and there are issues with aspect ratios.
A clean, responsive app would go a long way on this system! After using the web app, you can really see the potential of the WiiU as a plex client.
As of writing, global WiiU sales sit at 7.29 million(since Nov 2012) and this figure will be likely to increase with the new Smash Brothers game being released soon.
For comparison, Roku has sold over 10 million units(with 19 odd different models) since May 2008, so while it's not as focused a platform as Roku, it's got the numbers to compete, and it's the same hardware & software for all the units.
I understand(could be off the mark here) that after purchasing the hardware, WiiU development is free. Obviously that doesn't factor in paying your staff to develop the application, but it's only a good thing, right? I know you've got limited resources and everyone wants plex to work on their 5 year old TV box or tablet, but I feel that this is a big enough platform to garner your attention.
I'm curious to know how many sales you'd be wanting to justify development...a kickstarter type campaign could perhaps work if you could give us an indication?
Anyway, I've put a poll up, so please vote! I'm not sure how many WiiU owners there are on here, but I'll try to spread the word about this thread to get a better idea.
Thanks for you time. :)
