Wii U support - The Killer Client

I just got my Wii U, even though I was utterly skeptical about it. Turns out this could be the best client for a plex app. The dual screens really lends itself to a world of potential in terms of playback and organization.

I could easily see this taking over for my Mac Mini as a media player. I know Nintendo is allowing Indie Development for games, however I am not sure to what extent they are allowing apps to be made.

If possible, this would be a huge +1 for me.

This would be awesome. I would buy a wii u just for plex. We need a good plex set top box client! And by that I mean one that isn’t slow like the roku or on a buggy system like google tv.

The way they have incorporated TVii into the WiiU makes me drool hoping for similar functionality on the WiiU. I am not sure how open Nintendo is with app development though…

+1 yes, please.

I dont have the new WiiU , but the old one doesn't support Media apps like WiiMC without a jailbreak.

So if you look at the Plex-supported-devices, u'll see that its only supported on non-jailbroken devices.

i dont think that Plex is ever coming to devices like PS3, Xbox or WiiU ..

to the "dual screen" and "a world of potential" , just try the iOS/Android Plex-App as a remote for a PlexClient.

you’ve got my vote.

but heck, even a homebrew
version for the old wii—
i’ve got an old tv that does
not take hdmi, so only
appletv1+a wii are connected.
have netflix, amazon prime,+
hulu, but no plex. sadness.

Me also

+1

Would also love a Wii U client.

+10000000

Please offer a Wii U client

Would also love a Wii U client.

Currently you can access the web client through the Wii U browser but it is pretty slow and seems to not be able to play larger files like movies.

Reviving an old thread — This would be fantastic, especially with the great support from Netflix and Amazon. The Amazon app should provide some fantastic inspiration for features!

PS: Given the lack of support for the Plex/Web interface (and its often and currently broken nature), it would be perfect to add the Wii U to the growing stable of gaming devices and have an instant boost to the number of supported players.
