Skip 30/45sec forward and back.
Ability to adjust audio offset for sync issues…
Ability to skip back/forward using the LB/RB buttons.
On every other client I have used you can skip video in chunks of 30-45 seconds ... that seems to be missing from this otherwise impressive app.
Unless I just missed it and the skip is mapped to some other buttons?
This will definitely be returning to the home screen, it just didn't make it into this version due to a last-minute bug :(
You can sort of get this behavior using the "Top Unwatched" for movies and various TV views ("Start Watching" and "Rediscover" both take watched status into account). However, we also intend to support filtering, including by unwatched, in list views as soon as we can.
You can change subtitles, audio streams, and video quality in the "..." menu in the video player. It will remember your settings between videos. Were there any others that you miss specifically?
I miss this one too! We're working on it :)
I'd suggest thinking about how the L/R bumpers and triggers might be used in all screens, including during playback.
For example, when viewing a single episode of a series, I'd really like to be able to hit the bumper (and L/R on D-Pad) to move forward and backward in the season. Sometimes I like to verify what the previous episode was before launching the new one. And consider this shift concept for all screens — for example, if I'm at the top level of Movies, let me hit the right bumper and shift to the top level of TV shows. It's very much how the Xbox Dash has always worked.
During playback, suggest having the bumpers and triggers do different things. Probably keep trigger FF/RW action, but have the bumper jump 15-30 seconds. Bonus points if you let the user dial in that value in settings.
Also, please think about having a default FF/RW speed that a user can set for the triggers. This is important because some of us want to use the Xbox Plex app with our IR remotes, and will only have the ability to send single button requests. Right now the Xbox is a frustrating device to scan video in because of the way you have to stack multiple FF/RW requests to get to a decent speed. All I really want is to hit the RW "button" and have it jump straight to 4x or 8x. Allowing a default value to be set in settings, and then overridden during use if needed, would rock!
Just bringing my post in from the other thread in case this one gets stickied instead!
+1 for Better subtitle support (.srt without transcoding)
I play my content from a relatively slow Synology NAS. Native playback is key — PHT works great here, and allows me to toggle subs just when I need it. Toggling now with the XB1 app is frustrating, and really breaks up viewing.
I just wanted to put in a second vote for the Bing Voice Search functionality. Right now a Bing movie search will link to Netflix, Hulu and other apps where the movie is available to stream or purchase. It would be awesome if Plex movies and TV shows showed up in there too.
As an FYI (having worked at MSFT on Kinect in the past), I can tell you this is really, really hard. The issue is that it's very difficult to build up a corpus of millions of voice samples to allow Kinect to recognize phrases relatively consistently. "Xbox On" is easy — everyone's done it. Binging "My Cousin Vinnie" infinitely tougher.

But do you have to re-invent the wheel? Google Now and Siri both seem to recognize movie titles fairly accurately. Bing should be able to also. It's not like you have to rewrite voice recognition just for Xbox.

Well, actually, you sort of do. Google Now and Siri have the benefit of collecting millions of voice impressions from mobile devices, all of which slowly help improve voice recognition quality. It's not impossible, and I'm sure MSFT is working on just this. But it takes time... short form, this isn't something the Plex developers have any influence or control over. :(

is 'cause bing sucks

The app looks pretty good so far! My biggest complaint is that multiple Xbox One profiles cannot access the Plex app.
1. Parental controls that work correctly. The issue is that if an Xbox One account that has any kind of age restriction with the option checked to hide content in the store, guide and apps then all of the movies in Plex have a padlock and are not select-able. This would be great if only the content that isn't rated appropriately is blocked but everything is blocked. I have to uncheck the option in the Xbox settings to hide content in the guide, store and apps to watch anything but then everything is select-able.
I really hope that the Xbox One can read the ratings that the Plex content has tagged.
2. More groups (recently watched, continue watching...) on the home screen like there are within the libraries.
3. The ability to rearrange and hide the different groups in what every order.
4. The ability to control these groups from the server to display on the Xbox One.

Yes, but once that work is done, it's done. You don't have to redo it. Microsoft has Cortana. They have a way of gathering a huge quantity of feedback to improve their voice recognition quality. And they could always license the tech from the company behind Siri (Samsung is currently looking into this according to recent reports).

But the xbox one already has pretty solid voice recognition built in for its own media library. I'm sure it won't pick up obscure movies, but I've been impressed with the movies it does recognize and had a lot of fun finding movies using weird searches like the examples here:
http://www.bing.com/explore/xbox
When you select a movie after a search, the xbox will show you any apps you have that can stream it like netflix, hulu, amazon, even comedy central and the TV apps. What I want is for plex to show up here too if I have the movie on my server.
It's not so much adding voice to the plex app, but letting the xbox know that I have these movies on my plex server. I'm sure that is a whole new set of problems though because everyone's library is different while the netflix library is universal.
Unless I am missing something I would like a folder view, I have all my movies sorted by genre. For me the long list of movies is cumbersome. In addition I would like to see support for ISO, I have quite a few in that format. The app for me at this point is not worth the time to convert all those files. I use Media Borwser to serve up just about any file to the x box.
Thanks

Not quite... the reason Siri and Google's voice recognition continues to improve is ongoing collection of voice samples and analysis. You can't actually just take a simple snapshot and stop. And both Google and Apple have a huge advantage in that they have 100x (maybe) an install base of devices to draw those samples from. That's why I say Microsoft is working on it — they literally just don't have as big a funnel of input data as their competitors.
Microsoft's phone (and associated Cortana) are hindered by lack of market acceptance. It's the reason they can't get all of the apps they need to compete, and one of the reasons voice is hard. :(

I didn't mean to imply that you take a simple snapshot and you're done. But what I am saying is that the work is already being done in certain places (Bing, Cortana, Microsoft Speech Recognition). It's not like they have to redo it all from the beginning just to get it working for Xbox (as was implied by your quote I originally replied to).
Filters, filters, filters. It's one of my must have tools. Also it would be great to use the apps on iOS, Android, etc to control the XO app.
Less worried about the remote control, but would love filters. I'm organizing my collection in collections as well as genres. I'm trying to consolidate down to the xbone from 2 boxes (xbone + media player) and filtering would go a long way to reaching this.
Hoping this is a monitored forum :)
I just got the Xbox One Plex, without even testing I bought the lifetime.
I'm happy with my choice and take part as Plex for Xbox grows.
However, while I love it, it is great, it's not designed to grow over time in a manageable way.
Movies
I started to add moves, when done, I'll have 500-600.
It's great now with 20-30 but when approach over 200 it's going to be crazy scrolling through it all.
Simple fix - A view setting by category, Comedy, Horror, Drama so on.
Videos
Same issue as above, we have a five year old. On my server the home videos are organized by year (2009, 2010..)
Under that the months and than video. I have over 2000 home videos, it's simply to much, and this problem will just grow.
Simple fix - A view by Folder
Parent Control - New Feature.
It would be nice to have a spot for more adult related content. add a Add Content button called Secure Photos, one for Movie and Home Videos.
The top 2 though are a must - or some better idea. In it's current form it's designed for simple needs.
Past that - I know music is coming, I love the rest. Thanks.
Please I need the ability to increase the subtitles size. It’s way too small right now. Thanks
Firstly love the app, used popcorn and Yamj for years and this is like a breath of fresh air
Wish List:
Skins
Box Sets
Music (I have set this up on web server but doesnt appear on the xbox)
Apps (iplayer doesnt appear)
I'm working on programming my universal remote with Xbox One IR codes (so as to control the Plex app). So far so good, but I think I found one missing button: how do you get back to the top/home page of the Plex app?
Having a button for that is really helpful, just as it is for PHT.
new to plex but not new to xmbc, one thing xbmc did that I liked was flattened a show if there was only 1 season.
