How is your network setup modem to router to pc and pc to router to mac? Does windows have any type of firewall or antivirus loaded blocking 53, 80, 443? How did you generate certs and load them onto the atv?

Did you set an OUTBOUND rule for Python.exe in your firewall?

Network: Modem - Router - hardwired to ATV and PC (also broadcasting wi-fi)

Firewall: I did have one running.  I just went in and opened ports 53, 80, and 443.  Still no dice.

Certs: I generated these through cmd running as administrator.  Followed this guide.  https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Install-Guide-Windows-Certificates

I put the profile on the ATV as described here via USB.  https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Install-Guide-Certificate-via-USB

I will say though, that my Credential/Cert seems to behave differently than other examples I've seen (though I haven't seen any examples with Windows 8.1).  It says it's not trusted when I click view certificate.  I've added (I think) multiple times, but it still says the same thing. (not sure if this is right or wrong...?)

I had not set an outbound rule for python.exe

I just set one.  Allow program -->  (%SystemDrive%\Python27\python.exe)

But no change in result.

I apologize for bumping this, but if anyone has an idea or suggestion I'd really love to get this running.  Anyone out there have PlexConnect running on Windows 8.1 that can offer some thoughts?

I would try deleting the cert profile from the ATV and the cert files from the PlexConnect folder and then trying creating new ones and installin them again, everything else looks ok.

Also try rebooting everything (ATV, router and PC before trying this and after setting it up new if needed - it will just make sure anything cached is removed).

Welp.  I tried this, f00b.  No good.  I guess I give up, which bums me out.

Pm me your certs and I will see if they are good or not.

Might be worth trying without using Google's public DNS (8.8.8.8). I have had mixed results when using that. I would try setting PlexConnect ip_dnsmaster = line to your ISP DNS address.

I would also try an absolute path for the cert too....as in c:\plexconnect\assets\certificates\etc.....

You could always upload your certs using the network method which is a lot easier:

I sent the files to f00b4r.  Hopefully he'll see something.  Thanks everyone.
