Reset pword. Server on TrueNas is now unreachable, no option to reclaim. HELP!

Hello,

i reset my password like the email told me to, i assumed i would have to reclaim my server but i get no option to do so.

When i log in to [plex_local_server_ip]:32400/web i get an empty homescreen. My server name pops up on the left column for a brief 2 seconds and then disapears forever.

Now when i log in to https://app.plex.tv/ It DOES show my server in the top left column, although the orange circle is constantly spinning and it says:

Plexmediaserver is unreachable.

plex server is reachable, its up and running.

Help! i didnt realize resetting my password would brick my server. I really need access asap.

I’m having a similar issue. Changed the password and now my plex server is unavailable, both over LAN and WAN. I have rebooted the plex jail, The TrueNas server, and router, but to no avail. I have tryed to update the plex server (version is 1.28.0.5999) but there is no newer version to be had (Plex.tv stated the newest version for FreeBSD is 1.28.2.6106) But that one is not available on TrueNas. I have no idea what’s up…

Yeah I have Plex 1.28.1.6104 in a jail (not the plugin) on TrueNAS and am unable to claim my server back after the password change. The menu is not even there.

I saw on the forum something about removing some info on the preferences.xml. Tryed it but it didn’t work.

Exactly the same scenario. TrueNas, plex server running latest version (1.28.1.6104), resetting password basically bricks the server!!! Can’t access it.

How the hell do I claim my server back? so frustrating…

Plex guys, please help!

Same issue here. Accessing [plex_local_server_ip]:32400/web after password reset says ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED.

I can access https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/ and this logs into my server, but no local content is shown, only other servers my account is associated with.

Any other FreeNAS users out there that have resolved this. Am using the standard FreeNAS supported plugin of Plex Premium. All my other (Roku) devices have also lost my content.

Ok so I manage with the help of ChuckPa to claim my server back with this post: Server credential reset utility for Linux-based platforms

Here is what I’ve done:

  • Stop the server
  • Get the zip (i’ve modified it so it works with BSD), extract the file and put it on the server somewhere where you have acces.
    UserCredentialReset.zip (3.2 KB)
  • Get a new token from here Claim | Plex
  • Type this command in the truenas shell: sudo sh mnt/[location to file]/UserCredentialReset.sh -p “mnt/[location to Preferences]/Preferences.xml” [token]

it should looks like this: sudo sh mnt/Pool/UserCredentialReset.sh -p “mnt/Pool/iocage/jails/Plex/root/usr/local/plexdata/Plex Media Server/Preferences.xml” claim-wks1fG_tqzra2EioFzV

  • Once the code executed, you should get your plex informations on the screen. Insert them in the following code:
    PlexOnlineUsername=“[username]” PlexOnlineMail=“[email]” PlexOnlineToken=“[token]” AcceptedEULA=“1”

It should look like this:
PlexOnlineUsername=“julien” PlexOnlineMail=“julien@gmail.cpm” PlexOnlineToken=“eaouTVXFr6HV24dtkjiQ” AcceptedEULA=“1”

  • Go to the Preferences.xml file : cd mnt/Pool/iocage/jails/Plex/root/usr/local/plexdata/Plex\ Media\ Server
  • Open the file: nano Preferences.xml
  • Add the code from three steps ago. Put it at the end, inside the bracket, like this: < [existing code] [your code] >
  • Save the file
  • Start the server
  • Login to your Plex server with the ip address like this: 192.168.1.200:32400

I have the same issue but trying the above the server just crashed. Also I do not see a Preferences file in the usr/local but on root/Plex Media Server inside the jail.

I even tried nuking the jail but when i reinstall i still not “a non authorized message”

The strange thing is that i can log in from a different browser but not the one i usually use. But when i do i cannot get the option to import any media. I am at a complete loss here.

In the end i just uninstalled the Plex plug-in from TrueNAS and installed it again. Pain in the ass, but i found no other way that worked.

I ended up uninstalling in general. Will use an alternative. Even an uninstall and reinstalling does not fix it. Too bad I wasted my money on a lifetime pass i will not use from now on.

Me too. I had to nuke my plex server and just start from scratch because whatever happened with password changing during this data hack totally broke my plex and made it unreachable.
