I’ve been running Plex-HTPC on my media PC largely without issue, but in the past few weeks I’ve been having issues with resolution when turning the TV back on. I’ll only see the top quarter or so of the screen and everything will be very large like it’s stretching that portion to fill up 4K. The issue is fixed by closing and reopening Plex-HTPC, but that requires me to dig out my keyboard and hook it up (I use a Harmony remote). I’ve modified the snap file to set DISABLE_WAYLAND=1 in the environment, but otherwise it should be vanilla.
Hello.
I notice that there was a fix for linux power management a couple of months ago. Also what you refer to reminds me of resolution switching. We should at least get Plex HTPC logs zipped in your reply.
What are your HTPC Settings for
Experience → Screen Saver
Experience → Screen Saver type
Video → Enable Resolution Switching
What sort of state are you leaving the TV and the HTPC in?
Are you using an IoT outlet that cuts power to the TV?
Does your TV automatically want to turn on to do pixel maintenance?
Are you leaving HTPC paused during playback?
Does the issue persist if you Esc out to an HTPC Home and then leave it there?
What are the gory details about your Ubuntu power management?
Unfortunately fullscreen does not work well on Linux. The app already has a hack to detect the screen change, indicated by the log Detected a fullscreen size change, working around by toggling fullscreen and back in 1s where it will toggle out of fullscreen, wait, and toggle back in. This appeared to correct the issue you are describing in all the cases I had seen. Is this log line present in your logs?
