I notice that there was a fix for linux power management a couple of months ago. Also what you refer to reminds me of resolution switching. We should at least get Plex HTPC logs zipped in your reply.
What are your HTPC Settings for
- Experience → Screen Saver
- Experience → Screen Saver type
- Video → Enable Resolution Switching
What sort of state are you leaving the TV and the HTPC in?
Are you using an IoT outlet that cuts power to the TV?
Does your TV automatically want to turn on to do pixel maintenance?
Are you leaving HTPC paused during playback?
Does the issue persist if you Esc out to an HTPC Home and then leave it there?
What are the gory details about your Ubuntu power management?
