First, I know the TV is 1080p (it is a new 60" LG 3D TV) and the Raspberry Pi was allowing 1080p output option.
I now have a HP Stream 11.6" Laptop with OpenPHT installed and it won’t allow anything higher than 720p. Even though the screen on this laptop is 720p, it should have nothing to do with the HDMI output to my 1080p TV.
Is there an override or some way to allow the OpenPHT setting to be set to 1080p?
No, it is on the same port (#1) as was the Pi. It is also pass thru from player to Amp to TV using the same port on the AMP as used by the Pi as well (BD-Bluray Disk)

So what do you mean by “receiver” and how can it be “detecting” 720p when nothing is 720p except the laptop display which I’m not using. If there was some way to get the SOFTWARE to stop sensing the laptop display maybe? Does anyone actually know whether the HDMI port on a laptop can push 1080p regardless of the cheap display maxed at 720p?

Ok Then. Over to you…
But think about it. Try and use another source to see if your laptop is the culprit.
I already mentioned a few times that the Pi worked fine at 1080p. All I have done is remove the Pi and add the Laptop so it’s clear the laptop is the problem. I was hoping that someone with deep knowledge of the software could explain why I can’t select past 720p. I can’t be the first person to take a cheap laptop and flash it with OpenPHT.

@Gdr56 - Thanks for the links but again, if you check my comments you’ll see I have flashed the laptop with the OpenPHT image for an Intel system so no blogs about changing Windows Settings apply. The only OS on the laptop is the OpenPHT one.
I believe from what i read HDMI port on that HP stream is connected to your Video board which is interrogated on the Motherboard. So unless you know of a way changing the firmware for that board to support 1080P your out of luck. That if it is possible at all with the hardware of Stream.
Yeah, I’m running out of options. If I reinstall Windows to see if i can get the “screen switching” idea your links mentioned to use 1080p then I have to use Plex’s Media Player (which is just the full Plex Media Server interface as an App) which I don’t want. Back to using a Pi or get a mini-PC seems like my next move.
Thanks for the input.

Glad that’s sorted, cheap PC’s are just cheap and you can’t make it run like a Ferrari. The manufactures don’t want you too as they want to sell a more expensive machine regularly.
