Server won’t start up keep getting.
Keep getting this message

Please help me figure out how to fix this

Be patient and re-read the message.
Your system is doing a database migration and cannot be used until it is complete.
There are many factors that will determine how long that takes (how much media, drive speed, etc.).

Walk away/go to bed (not sure where you are located), but it should be back up after a little while (again, cannot tell you how long that will be).

There should be nothing to fix, it is something that gets done from time to time between updates depending on changes that Plex makes behind the scenes regarding the database structure (schema).

If it doesn’t eventually come up, you could have a corrupt database in which case @ChuckPa’s tool, GitHub - ChuckPa/PlexDBRepair: Database repair utility for Plex Media Server databases, is a great utility to try and fix the issue (if you do not have non-corrupt backups).

Go get a cup of coffee and wait. As Shark said, it takes time, your library size, and hardware running plex all play a factor in how long it will take.

I had a user whose upgrade took 2 weeks (his PMS had 512 GB of metadata)

  1. DO NOT restart PMS – You’ll only delay it and make it start over
  2. Hit F5 once in a while. The page does not auto-refresh
