I am also a lifetime plex member. I’ve been hoping and waiting for the plex qapp to arrive for quest 2/3 for years now. Please make this happen.

I think Plex will probably be available on the Apple Vision Pro. But I don’t think it will be a new app, I just hope they make the iPad be available. It is a simple checkbox on the apple developer website, since VP can natively run iPad apps

If I understand currently the vision of Plex, by making a media “social network”, it very weird that Plex don’t found in Meta quest…

And considering Q3 is highly popular and has the biggest market share with millions of users, it makes sense to make a move onto the biggest VR platform.

An SBS Playback mode would be a good start for Android, iPhone, and Vision Pro.

I too would love the ability to play 3D movies in my Plex library on Quest (and/or Apple Vision Pro). But I do understand Plex being worried about the cost of development vs what might be (for now) a relatively small user uptake. So why not monetize it?
OPTION 1: Simply charge for the app.
OPTION 2: Estimate that cost of development and then crowdfund it.
OPTION 3: Launch a “PlexPass Plus” membership level that includes VR.

Just got a Quest 2 and one of the first things I looked for was a Plex app like I have on my Oculus Go. Alas there was none to be found. I know there are workarounds but a native app would be awesome!!!

For some unknown reason, Plex has never made it available for Oculus 2. You have 3 options:

  1. You can sideload the Plex APK though as the Oculus 2 runs Android 10 and it works fine.

  2. Use BigScreen or other media player and use DLNA to access Plex content.

  3. Use the browser to access Plex.

  4. Use Virtual Desktop to the Plex or other PC.

Just reviving this topic to say that a Quest 3 app would be more than greatly appreciated. The Quest 3 with a nice strap is a good device to watch movies on, and I’ve tried it.
The people on r/plex also keep asking it over and over. If you search for “Quest” on r/plex you almost get sad.

I have tried the in browser and it almost works fine in Heresphere, but I actually do want to be able to watch the free content like The Birthday Boys, and while it will play in browser I can’t put it on the sphere in the background. I guess the problem is for security you can’t just provide an mp4 for streaming, so I get that.

Can we have a kickstarter sorta thing to fund creating a Quest app?

I use the DLNA of Plex for now, but a true app, that supports all forms of 3d, and maybe you can work with 4XVR to integrate their playback tech, with your overall interface. I think 3d movies still have life (new Dragon movie in theaters is in it) and I think if you guys get your app/product out there it could be a boon.
