What are you using in it’s place?
+1 I too would love to have a VR app on Oculus Quest. It would take Watch Together for 3D content to another level. Everyone I know with a Quest would buy a Plex Pass just for this one feature.
I also vote for a Native Plex app for Quest 2
Can you expand on why this is not being looked at as a priority, as you are hearing people are wanting this but i see very little answers from the PLEX team to answering why they not working on. I think this would at least allow users to understand why this is not happening.

The original developer leaving Plex didn’t help but usage as far I as I know just was not that high and there were/are other existing platforms and things that resources were/are tied up in.
The userbase for Oculus has also grown exponentially since this was EOL’d, might be worth a poll or something at least?
+1 that I would LOVE plex support on Oculus Quest 2 and future devices!
The Oculus “meta” quests and their next headsets as well are hugely successful. The need for a decent way to stream plex on the Quest headsets is there. I have used the browser to clunkily watch plex on my quest and once I get to the movie I’m looking to watch it works great but the experience as an app could be so much better. 3D movies in VR are the best way to experience movies hands down. Usually, at the theater, the 3D movies hurt your head and the effect is not super impressive. But 3D movies in VR are completely crisp and actually 3D not blurry. I watched the Lego movie in 3D on my quest and I was blown away at how real the lego people looked. The dimensions really sold the effect that these are real Lego pieces in the movie. I had a GearVr and used plex in it a lot. It really makes me wish Samsung kept doing the GearVr with their phones. I never had an Oculus go, but I did try a friend’s and it was a great experience. I was really blown away when the quest headsets came out that PLEX had nothing. I saw a community trying to hack and port their Oculus Go app to quest but I was never able to get that working. Now the quests have side-loaded apps and an unofficial app store. If PLEX isn’t allowed on the official app store for some reason, please allow it on the unofficial or side-loaded side. It doesn’t have to be feature-rich. It could just be a floating screen that allows you to watch movies.
I keep tweeting at plex hoping that they will see it or it might get enough retweets by the community that plex will consider it. I find it hard to believe that not one person on the plex developer team has a quest. I find it impossible that plex doesn’t see how amazing movies in VR can be.
I pay for plex pass literally because I want this feature. i would cancel my plex pass in a heart beat if plex told me they are not considering a Oculus quest app at all.
Search How many Quest units sold on google.
“VR continues to break records as Meta’s Quest 2 headset leads the pack, now eclipsing the 14.8 million units sold mark according to new data provided by the International Data Corporation, or IDC for short.
…
Looks like the Oculus Quest 2 is still selling better than the Xbox.”
The X-Box app reuses much the the exact same code as our Playstation and other Smart TV apps that is why it is easier to develop and exists. It also still works on the Xbox One of which there was about 50 million sold any many still in use by our users.
The company has decided not to invest in creating an VR app of any kind for any particular VR product. When that decision was made I closed the other request topic about this to give folks their vote backs. I’m sorry but nothing since then has changed when I have brought this up various times internally.
That’s sad, i can’t believe porting the GearVr or Oculus Go app is not worthwhile. The quest platform is literally android. Thanks for trying to bring it up internally but if PLEX has abandoned the VR prospects as a whole, ill not be renewing my plex pass until they do. I was hoping my money was going towards innovation and support but it seems like my money has been going to adding the free channels that pluto already supplies for free.
I guess if that’s what pays the bills, but until Plex is back on vr my money is not going to plex.
Srry.
Mozilla Firefox on Quest is a good option. I use it on airplanes.
As a crazy loyal Lifetime Plex Pass member (and somewhat early adopter) … who has enjoyed owning the Oculus Quest, now the Oculus Quest 2 and soon to be upgrading to the Meta Quest Pro, I’m disappointed in the lack of innovation and lack of long-term commitment to VR devices. I can watch my 3D movies hosted on my Plex Server using Skybox VR, but the Plex experience is so much better and unless I access it through the VR browser, I just don’t have that option. That’s just nonsense.
The VR experience is so much better than anything else … and that is why so many of us are loyal to Plex, is the experience. That’s it. That’s the core. Difficult to believe that Plex leadership doesn’t get this … maybe they should expand their world from just listening and watching content to enjoying the pleasure of virtual reality environments.
We need plex vr for quest2 !
We need plex vr for Meta Quest 3
It’s a bit hard to grasp why you advertise as being “available for all your devices” when one device (Quest 2/3) that millions of people have & want an app for is continually ignored.
I don’t care about free channels or movies. I care about being able to use Plex on all my devices.
Yes! we need app for quest!
I guess it matters to say I’m a lifetime plex pass holder, and I also want this. It just makes sense. According to Linus’s video about the quest 3, apparently they quest 2 has sold 20 million devices, and now that it’s on such deep discount, it will likely sell quite a few more.
If Plex was OSS, I bet there would be an app.
I’ll be SO mad if there is magically a VR app for the Apple headset thats coming and will be restricted in sales and cost WAY too much for the average person to actually afford and not one for the company that is not only open sourced, basically based off hardware that the app is already on and has/ will have more sales then the Apple headset.
Clearly you guys at plex have your priorities wrong! Webapp games on my plex, live tv i never asked for, tidal subscription i do not use, media “by plex” NOT NEEDED! ebook and comic/manga reader NEEDED, VR app 1000% needed, and lastly we need to have plugins/ webhooks back… like its STTILL in the UI under settings so like its still in the code… just turn it on…
We tell you how to make this app great and Plex ignores us, then wonders why people are leaving the platform and losing sales, which then increases prices as they add more useless features signing useless non-profiting contracts… Here’s some coffee, wake up you look like poop! Lets turn our frowns into smiles please.
EDIT: Mind you for the new apple headset its a new “language” to code in so if there is an app for it then we know this “funds” and “manpower” being “tied up in other things” was a bold face lie!
There seems to be a third party app out now, Movie Deck for Plex. Costs $9.99.
