Restored plex db on new windows PMS install, seeing duplicate server unreachable but working normally from plex.tv over SSL/TLS

Server Version#:1.19.3.2764

My server is showing up secure and from plex.tv there’s are no issues with SSL/TLS connections. But strangely when I open the PMS locally (127.0.0.1) I see two servers with the same name on the left at the top; one fails to load and the second is the working one with the same name and functional SSL/TLS. I can’t find anywhere/anyway to remove it. My settings/authorized device list shows only one server. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Restored plex db on new windows PMS install,

Does this mean you have also exported the registry branch and imported it on the new server?
Do you have both machines now running at the same time?

I did export and import the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\plex, llc and imported it into the new server. I only ever had one at a time as it the same PC. I’m still seeing two servers on the connection panel on the left but only one server in authorized devices. Thank you so much for any help.

Then you might have to perform the ‘Reset customization’ procedure on all plex clients:

Thank you so much for your fast response.

My home screen seems okay I think. I’ve included some screenshots to help clarify. I also tried changing the friendly name from STOOGE to NEWSTOOGE to distinguish them. As you can see STOOGE is not connected and really doesn’t exist I guess. The restored NEWSTOOGE is running but having some issues. There’s no SSL/TLS anymore and it seems like metadata might not be syncing. I’m thinking this all is related to the plex system seeing two servers where there should be one. I probably made it worse by releasing the server and reclaiming it, but I was desperate and I saw it in another post.

By releasing and reclaiming your server, you caused a new cryptographic certificate and DNS entry for your server to get created.
Depending on your ISP, your router (and occasionally other network components) this change may need some time (minutes, hours or even days) to propagate.

You might be able to speed it up by:

  1. set the “DNS server” preference in your router to that of Google (8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4)
  2. reboot your router
  3. reboot your server
  4. reboot your client(s)/empty your web browser’s cache

In this order.

I’ve rebooted and the extra server is gone. But nothing has changed with regard to the SSL/TLS. I still have to accept insecure connections each time I visit plex.tv. Can I force an update?

Without knowing where the old/invalid certificate is “stuck”, I don’t think so.
You may have to wait until the certificate is expired (~1 month or something like that).
