To keep the DVR stuff from ruining the videos, that I have bought bluray versions of, I setup 2 new libraries: 1 for DVR movies and 1 for DVR series. The problem with that is that it is really easy to accidentally set something to record to a different library. What I would like is a property in each library that says weather or not it can take DVR videos, or a DVR setting where you can pick which libraries are available. That way there is no mistake where they are put.
I did the same thing, 2 new libraries to keep stuff separate.
But mine defaults to the last library I chose so when I pick another show or movie to record it is already set to the correct library.
I use the OS level to prevent the Plex user from writing to (or deleting from) my non-DVR libraries. Even with a setting I wouldn’t trust that Plex would never introduce a bug.

Yes that is a good thing. In fact I relied on this. Except somehow it switched to my main library and I deleted an episode that I bought, for a 7 sec snippet of some a commercial. I only caught it because I have been working on the reason plex keeps recording small snippets instead of whole episodes.
As far as setting up a plex user without the delete permissions, that’s not a bad idea, but I don’t like it. It would be sooooo much easier if there was just a settings that restricted this.
