Resume Playback of Music

I’ve posted this comment before and it gets a lot of views but never any comments so I’ll see what happens in this section. I have an issue with music not resuming playback after a network change.

Here’s the scenario; I have my Nexus 6P connected in my house streaming my music playlist over my Wi-Fi. Next I get in my car, start the car, connect my Nexus 6P to my bluetooth, music starts playing in the car everything is great. I start driving away from my house, my Wi-Fi disconnects the currently playing song continues to play but Plex for Android will stop after that song the next track will not play. I can open the play queue and select a song to play but it will again stop at the end of that song. In order to get seamless playback again I have to stop the playlist and start it again which generates a new play queue… I’ve had the Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and now Nexus 6P and all of these devices have this same behavior when going from Wi-Fi to mobile data connection. Is there a solution to this problem? Am I the only one with this issue?

Hi,

Thanks for raising this issue. We are aware of it and have plans on how to resolve. We are actually hoping to rewrite the underlying audio player in the Android application to give us much more control to better handle these types of scenarios. The plan will be for the application to detect the change of network, re-work out how to access your server (in your case now remotely) and to update the currently playing track to stream from the new network address. We have made some steps under the hood to start this rework, and will hopefully be able to schedule the main development work soon.

Thanks for your patience
