Resuming after pause stops the playback

Hi there,

Since the last few (maybe 3 versions) of PMS I have a weird problem. If I pause video playback for more than a minute or so after resuming it will play for a while and then it will suddenly stop and forward to the next video in the library. I have already installed several new versions hoping that the problem will vanish, but sadly it didn’t happen.

I am using PMS running on Windows Server 2012 R2 and the client is actually my LG TV native DLNA (I am not using the Media Link application).

Please advise!

Same here still happening since back in December…is there any fix for this?

I wasn’t able to find solution for the problem yet. Not here or anywhere else.

You are using the DLNA server and not using a Plex app to play the movies?

Hi kegobeer-plex,

I have LG TV that has native DLNA client (different than the Media Link application that runs very slow) and I am using it to play the content from my PMS server. Just before December last year it was running fine and I was able to leave movies on pause for at least 4 hours (that’s the auto turn off timeout for the TV). I can’t do that anymore. I can’t pause at all, because if I do so for more than 30-40 seconds the playback stops and I am advanced to the next video file.

Hi,

I too am experiencing the same problems as Asen.Mitov, and like them, have experienced this for the last 3 or so updates, I am also streaming from my PC to an Lg Smart tv … this seems to be have been a problem for a while now, with several links in google search, but no solutions ???

can anyone shed any light on this?

Regards All …

Hi raystan,

Do you happen to remember the last stable release without that problem? I will downgrade for sure if this problem is not solved. This thread is already 4 months old and if I have to be honest I don’t expect any resolution.

Hi, i have the same problem.
Streaming video from PMS to LG TV with DLNA (Plex Version 1.5.5.3634)
Video stops after 30-120 second after unpause.

Any solutions?

Hi. i have the same problem with LG Tv and the latest version of PMS 1.5.6.3790 (Linux) if i pause a video for a few seconds works fine, but if i pause the video for 1minute or more when y press Play, start playing for a few sconds and then stop!
it’s very annoying

to day i upgrade the PMS to the latest version : plexmediaserver-1.5.7.4016-25d94bad9.x86_64
on centos 6.9 64bits and now The pause function works like a charm!!!

Hi there,

I am using Plex on Windows and the version that actually fixed this issue for me was 1.7.5.4035.
But apparently it was a bug, which got fixed. I was afraid that there is something wrong with my setup and that I would have to live with it for a long time (well 7 months is quite a long time actually  ).

Just after a short while they have managed to reintroduce the same problem with version 1.8.4.4249.
Now maybe we will have to wait another 6-9 months in order to have it solved again.

I need to add my name to this pot. At first I thought it was because I was watching while away from home and maybe my connection wasn’t the best but today I found out after trying to finish up a couple TV Shows and Movies while at home on the same network it will do the same. If i pause or stop playing for more then a minute it will not resume, I have to start it all over again and skip through to get back to my position. I FF and RR but can’t pause for more than a minute.

Same to me… Just stops the video after pause - approximately when pause 3 min and more. LG TV 2012 and 2013

I found something in console log, pls help me how to disable automatically check after 3 minutes (timing out session, terminated session). The most important part I have highlighted in bold. Im very like this program and im really need your help. How to totally disable checking session after exactly 3 minutes when video on pause, or somehow increase that time (not 3 minutes, and for example - 100 minutes).

Having the same problem as everyone else. If I pause playback on the client for more than a minute or two, when I resume it plays what I presume is the content of the client buffer and then hangs. The only solution is to close the stream and reopen it.

I’m running Plex Server 1.15.4.993 on OSX. This bug occurs in the web client and the iOS app.

Loads of people seem to have complained about this but there has been no response from Plex. What do we have to do to get this fixed?

This issue is still present. Resuming playback after pausing it for about 5 mins plays only till it was buffered (when paused), doesn’t buffer any further.

This is on macOS Safari.
