For some reason Plex decided that “folder view will be limed to a list-style view in the web app”. However this change has also a affected local view servers and native apps at least on Windows and Linux platforms. There are numerous threads on forums about this change that have gone mostly unanswered so this is a feature suggestion to reintroduce said removed folder view options: grid view and table view.
There is already a request for this. Rather than splitting votes over multiple threads, it’s best to add your vote and comments there.
I tried finding it with search but since it’s for music view and not tagged to the actually involved products I didn’t find it. Oh well.
When i buyed lifetime license - there was GRID view in folder list. There was need feature, why i have buyed this license. All in good places, convenient to use. At this moment i can’t use WEB player, because i can’t see tiny list without glasses. I’m using ALL categories list ONLY by FOLDER.
BRING back GRID to folder view, Where is your problem, why you cheating?

Guy’s, think about it, its a server not a client. I don’t need to know a description of the movie in that view and talk about scrolling. Cant be serious.
Could we PLEASE have the folder / grid view back, how you have it now is not gaining anything except a big pain in the ars.

What I don’t get is that every other view has a grid (ie Movies \ Recommended) and everyone uses a folder structure in there storage system. but just like being able to update the server from the client (my 7 year old updated my server from the TV ???) Its dumb and no one seems to listen or even offer some sort of explanation

Im Hoping that im having the same concern as others on here.
Ive been reluctant to update my plex server for exact reasons like this. I was running on a old version (1.21.1)(dec 17 2020) for ages. But over the years ive been having the odd issue with casting and whatnot. And thought it would be time to update to the latest plex server ( 1.31.2). What an absolute mistake that was. I was originally chasing down a flac/chromecast audio casting 24bit direct audio pass-thru issue.
As im sure others here also use the “grid” display mode for music. I have mine very particularly setup when using the web GUI. Music, show tracks, sort by date added. This allows me to see the new tracks that i add bit by bit to my server, and shows the album art of the album on each track when in grid mode. Makes it really easy for me to scroll thru and see the album i want just by remembering the photo. Also helps visually see the separate albums and tracks when ive dropped in a discography or such.
Now the only way to see the individual tracks is with the absolutely ugly table view. I am still able to sort by “newly added” but i have to read the album name which is very difficult to do when your scrolling thru 20,000 songs.
The other issue is, i would typically play a song from a album from the grid view, and it would continue to play in sequence of date added (basically creates a play queue of my entire library from that track forward) which worked great. now that is virtually impossible. When you view “albums” from grid view (only option available now). it will only play that album then stop.
Anyways, now i have to figure out how to revert back to a version of the sever right before they implemented this “feature removal” from the server app web gui.

Looks like maybe ( 1.22.2.4271) April 2021 is the one to avoid, and to try a older version? (they have a typo in the note for the version)
I too kept running the old version before they took away the grid view. When I watch my movies with a Roku the grid view is there. Why can’t we have it back on the server??? Years now and Plex does not put it back. I think it is time to find an alternative… I hate hate the list view, but what I hate more is that Plex does not care that so many people hate it. Not asking for a new feature to be added… just out it back the way it was.
So… what’s an alternative to Plex? (since they seemed to have screwed it up royally with no intention of listening to their users!)
