Rewinding TV show actually jumps ahead

Server Version#: 1.18.5.2309
Player Version#: 7.28.0.15501

I’m using the new player on the Fire TV. A problem I’m been having for a little while (I don’t know how long) is that hitting the left arrow on the remote to go back 10 seconds often jumps ahead instead. Once this happens it’s impossible to get back to where I was without stopping the player and starting the episode again. Has anyone had this problem or know of a way to fix it?

Same thing is happening to me. I can force it back by pressing rewind multiple times and trying to guesstimate what will work. But it’s difficult and a PITA. Seems like I read in another thread that it’s only transcoded streams but I haven’t tested that.

I couldn’t get this to work when I tried. Not that I want to resort to that anyway.

I’m only watching transcoded streams (since I have subtitles), so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s related.

I had this happening on the Windows App… Really bizarre.

Does anyone know if this is a problem with the server or a problem with the client?

I am also having this issue on my fire stick 4K. It only happens for me when transcoding with subtitles. I also noticed that sometimes the video will end up saying it is longer than it actually is. It will play the whole video and freeze at the end. Then it continues to play audio randomly from the episode for the remainder of the time. I think this issue is related but I don’t have a solution.

For me this exact problem occurred when Audio Passthrough was set to off. After setting it to HDMI then the new player rewind worked.

But still didn’t like new player due to a big yellow arrow popping up on my screen when RW/FF. Pray tell why do I need this disturbance? Plus there is no easy way to tell if the video is direct playing. Gosh new player so bad
