I am hard or hearing and have srt files stored with each of my media files (same directory). When I play pre-stored shows on my PC, everything works fine. When I play the same show on TV via Roku, however, there will be two subtitles displayed on top of each other; one will be my pre-stored subtitle, and the other will be something fetched from “opensubtitles.com”. I have Roku set to “Burn Subtitles - Only Image Formats”. Does anybody know what is happening and what I can do to fix this?
Issue seconded after the latest update. Subtitles duplicating on top of each other on Roku, whether external SRTs or subtitles found using the search system. Burn Subtitles is set to Automatic, as I’ve always had it- worked fine before the update. No solutions found so far.
Roku has their own subtitle settings for the whole device.
Enter the device settings and revert these to Default selections.
Plex and Roku don’t play well together with subtitles but I found a solution that works: When I have stored subtitles, I start the TV episode, go to the settings at bottom right of the frame, set Burn Subtitles to ALWAYS, and then I get a single set of CC displaying on the screen. This setting does not “stick”, however, and I have to do this each time I restart Roku.
