Roku permanently buffering

I am no longer able to stream to my Roku stick using the Plex Media Server. Although Roku can recognise and access my library, it will only stream for a few seconds, then repeatedly buffers and streams the same few seconds, before giving me a “Playback Error” message.

For some weeks now I have been experiencing worsening buffering and crashes, but it has now become so extreme that streaming is not possible.

I have not, to the best of my knowledge, made any hardware or software changes that could cause this. Can you offer any suggestions to fix this problem?
