Roku update horrible

Just adding my voice to the uproar. I despise the new Roku app. I’ve been with Plex for many years and have had Plex Pass for several years. I totally get the need to make enough $ to keep things going, and I assume some of these changes are to put more focus on the commercial offerings, but like so many others, I am never going to use those features. I too am starting to look for other options. I used to recommend Plex to everyone who would listen but I’ve stopped cold. The previous app was intuitive and easy to use. This is garbage.

Why is Plex on such a downward spiral? WHY ARE THEY BEING SO STUBBORN?! THIS IS NOT WHAT WE WANT!! What the heck is it going to take?Total company failure??? They are heading there speedrun style.

I think this shows more that Internet forums and the internet in general are really disconnected from everyday life of normal people.

On iOS App Store the Plex App has 135,000 reviews and a 4.6/5 rating. And on Roku the Ple app has 144,000 reviews and a 3.99/5 rating.

So as a company do you listen to the few hundred people who have a strong dislike of a new app design, or look at the hundreds of thousands of users who seemingly have no issue with the app? If the reviews and ratings are true, it’s a very vocal minority that don’t like the new UI.

I mean, do you not realize the the majority of the reviews were given loooooong before this craptastic insh!tification of an update to the UI? The issues are specifically and ONLY about the recent UI change. Any reviews or ratings prior to this UI update are completely irrelevant now.

PS. yes Plex addressed this publicly and Plex attempted to “fix” the issues users complained about… stating they they “took it to heart”, but they didn’t address the core issue at all. The recent beta isn’t really much better at all. It is still the “horizontal grocery list”.

Not really. Because Plex clearly has hundreds of thousands of users across many platforms. And when these polls and petitions are going up, you’re only seeing a few hundred people that really don’t like the new UI.

So it seems to me not everyone hates the new UI. Because if they did you’d see hundreds of thousands of users in these forums or in the reviews/ratings on the app stores. A very vocal minority can always make things seem way worse than they are.

I think most people can live with the new UI. It’s the lag and unresponsiveness that needs improvement as well as better navigation of libraries that can be improved and they seem to be working on that.

Thankfully the Roku app is still good on Apple TV but our Roku in the other room is awful. Who thought this layout was going to be good let alone liked by most of the users. Change it back please!

I wish they’d swallow their pride and rollback already. I have used this app for over 10 years and I struggle to navigate this new version. I’m the tech savvy one in the house, my family can’t use it without assistance

I assume this update is across all TV platforms but I will ask anyway, is this only affecting ROKU?

Unfortunately this trash “new experience” is coming to ALL platforms that Plex is on. Turn off auto updates where you can if you want to keep a good working app.
