How the hell do I turn of these reviews? I have tried everything to rid myself of the annoying feature, please anyone know how to permanently turn this OFF?
I think if you go to the ADVANCED tab under Movies/Edit/Advanced you can select the reviews. Wether this will blank the old or not, I would hope it does. You should be able to choose between Rottin, IMDB and TMDB. Ihaven’t tried changing it yet, but it may be worth a shot.
nope, tried that, even erased the entire library, like a fool I might add, and they just came back.
I’m sadly not surprised and I know where your coming from. The RT reviews look ugly.
Playing with it, it effects this field:
These uglies stay. I’m guessing that’s what your trying to cut, right?
Yes, I have purchased a lot of Blu-ray over the years movies I love obviously or I would not! They hate everything, absolute cancel culture twisted hate! I’m sick of looking at it and want them gone comp as I know these films and don’t need nor want their opinions.
The only way I could find to get rid of them was to set the library agent to The Movie Database. (Unfortunately, this means the metadata and pairing are sometimes not as good so you will need to do some manual edits…)
But seriously though, is there ANYONE in the world who likes having a bunch of snobs trash their movie tastes!? GIVE US THE OPTION TO GET RID OF THEM, PLEX!!
I just double-checked and it looks like you might need to delete the library and make it again, selecting The Movie Database as the agent when you do it…
Also, this means that some stuff like movie extras won’t be available…
This is ridiculous…
I did that, rotten came back anyway. It was a real miserable job I don’t want to do again that’s for sure. Also it took ages to get back to normal as I had major editing because of all the errors.
I have a feeling those rotten tomato reviews that look so ugly are part of the “extras” that also bring in the web based trailers and featurettes. I don’t want to turn those off to test it since I like those features, I’m just not crazy about those reviews.
We are in the same boat.
Please vote for this to happen here :
I don’t even know why this isn’t just an option in the first place.
aye, ditto.
so, no options I take it?
would also love to see this removed. please plex let us simply disable reviews!
I’ve written an supportive metadata agent that gets rid of all reviews and sets all critics’ ratings to max.
It works with the legacy Plex movie agent..
Do not want to hijack this thread, but maybe somebody has good use of this:
That would be so great, they are frustrating and just make me angry as they destroy every film I love.
Hey John, I’m glad to hear your collection of films is working pretty well. I think I might have a solution for you to avoid those Reviews.
If your Plex client runs on a PC/MAC, one workaround is to switch from the Plex Desktop App to the older Plex Media Player. I don’t see any Reviews on it.
My PMP movie library advanced configuration is set to this:
Ratings Source: IMDb
Scanner: Plex Movie
Agent: Plex Movie
I agree it would be good to see an option to disable Reviews, but there’s the possibility that Plex makes a commission from placing the reviews in our app and would not be inclined to assist us. For example if they place reviews, they might get a discount on each rating they scrape.
EDIT: I just noticed this came up a year ago in this topic:
Gone to infuse because I can't turn off Rotten Tomato reviews
okay have a good day
Thanks! The problem is every PLEX player on the TV the ROKU the AppleTV the Samsung etc they show up no matter what you do. I even firewalls their site and no change. Watching on a computer is my last choice actually. I really appreciate the thoughts regardless.
Still nothing but crickets. Now they ruined the HOME screen too! Never ends, why not try and make it better instead of worse? Why are you doing things to ruin it!
I wasn’t too emotional about the reviews but as of late I seem to be getting more and more annoyed with them, too much clutter, I get what the thinking was here, but I believe having the icons should suffice, at most maybe having to click them to show the review examples… But yeah, not holding my breadth here…
This makes better sense in the streaming sections so that you know what you’re getting into, as opposed to the personal libraries, most of us know what we are getting ourselves into already…
