I have been streaming to work from my Synology NAS at home however I am having playback issues using Safari v12.1.2 using the plex web app v4.6.2
I am getting the error s3015 where the content keeps playing in the background but soon as I click the message playback ends, it seems to happen every 15 minutes or so.
I am just about to download Chrome on OSX to see if I am getting the same issue, and will update the post when necessary, and can also provide server logs when I get home.
It might be worth trying out PMP on that Mac while we work on this.
It seems to work better for me overall, especially seeing as the web client
can’t direct play HEVC.
The web article Log Files will help you capture the server logs the way we prefer.
I gave a walkthrough below.
Try to clear Safari History completely so cache and cookies are gone,
then restart the Mac please.
Please create a test case.
Settings - General (lower) - Show Advanced
Check DEBUG logging on
Uncheck VERBOSE logging off
Click SAVE
Start Playback
Play 30 seconds, or until failure, or just make it fail.
Wait 30 seconds
Settings - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
ZIP the entire folder it gives you, and attach it with your next post.
I played the same media via the PMP Mac Application (Remotely) and did not get the error, I also played the same show on the Plex for Xbox App (Local) and did not get the error. I would still like to test using Safari locally to see if I still get the error as I seem to remember someone having a similar issue in Safari but only when it was remote.
I will use Safari at work today and get you a log next time it happens.
I’m sorry I didn’t catch that right away.
You’re using a Synology. Right on.
There’s a great person here who authored the FAQ for those.
So please edit your OP to add the tag, server-synology
Sorry I haven’t been able to test for a few days but I haven’t forgotten.
I will try again when I am at work tomorrow.
I was using the new Plex app (the one without TV mode), and afterwards realised the there was the old Plex media player which supports a little more, I was getting the same behaviour on both.
What I will do tomorrow is I will not restart the video and continue watching when I get the error, that way we will be able to differentiate between a pause and the actual error.
Can I ask an unrelated question, I didn’t think it would be necessary to start a new topic, but I had a title which was buffering a lot at home, I found that the codec was VC-1, and saw a post a few years ago saying VC-1 does not support HW transcoding - is this still the case? It was stuck around 25% swell so I’m guessing using software will only use one core aswell?
