Recently I have multiple movies that have duplicates. But the problem is, they are the same exact file… It’s not every movie, and not even a lot of them, but I cant figure out how to delete one of the items from my DB without removing the actual file and replacing it…
I’d rather not remove the file and re-add it because i would like to keep the date added… and i would like to figure out why some movies do this, and how to prevent/fix it in the future. http://pastebin.com/L3cRxEuV XML http://pastebin.com/EqvKMwV0 NFO http://pastebin.com/U8NuFDWT Database entries
Edit your library and check what folders your library points to. Does it happen to point to your main folder and to a subfolder within that folder?
i.e. Your movie is in F:\Media\Movies. Do you have “F:\Media” and “F:\Media\Movies” both listed? If so, just delete the subfolder and the duplicate should go away.
Would you mind providing me a copy of your DB file so I can take a look? This can be fixed using SQL but I’d like to try and find a Plex Web based solution first if possible.
I’m also experiencing the same problem as chris41g with my Movie folder. Recently, I found that some movies appear twice and both listings are pointing to the same file. The only visible difference is that one file displays the release year under the poster and the other shows 1 movie. I also noticed that in a few cases where I have several movies from a series such as Indiana Jones, the movies appear individually and there is also a listing with all the files together as one would expect with a television series. This is a recent occurrence and I’m guessing a result from a recent app update. Any idea how I can eliminate the duplicate listings? I’ve attached two sample screenshots below from my Movie folder.
It worked. Thank you!! By disabling the Collections option in the Movie library settings, the random duplicate entries for some of the films in my Movie folder disappeared. It also removed the combined collections poster as well as expected. Thanks again.

you don’t have random duplicates… this IS collections showing up inline with your movies:

For example if i only have John Wick 2 in my DB it still showed that single movie being in a collection. Same goed for transformers etcetera. That shouldnt be happening right?
It happens if you enable „Use collection info from The Movie Database“ in your library settings. If you don’t want Plex to automatically create collections (incl. single-item collections), you need to check this setting (library: Edit > Advanced).
At the moment there’s no option to tell Plex not to display inline collections if they have <2 items. You can however easily delete them (see the support article linked above). The very latest beta release also provides a fix that deleting a collection requires Settings > Server > Library > Allow media deletion to be activated.
This has started happening for me, strange as there are no duplicates. Just added a new movie and it shows twice. You look at the info for both and the paths are exactly the same.
This is what’s happening to me. Funny think is that I fixed, but I don’t remember what I did. I think I unmatched it or something like that. Today it happened after while and completely moved the movie refreshed the library and added it back.
