Samsung shows 'an unexpected playback problem occured'

After months with no issues and no further changes to my system, a number of series fail to play all of a sudden. The series I watched yesterday now will not play with a message ‘an unexpected playback error occured’. I tried reinstalling the app, force rebooting the tv and I rebooted the server. No updates of plex server were done.

Note: some titles still play,.

I think my tv auto updates the plex app, might this have been an issue that was introduced with a client app update?

check if files have subtitles… in my case (samsung nu80 firmware 1310) it refused to play ones with vobsub or PGS (some time before, on build 1263 everything was fine…)

if true - try setting disabling subtitles before playing (more → select subtitle track) or select SRT track

I’ve also started having issues since yesterday. I am able to play all files on my iphone and ipad but getting the same error as OP on 2020 Q80T.
