Samsung TV

I have just had to replace the computer which was using as my Plex server and now have it all set up on the new computer.
My problem is that I can no longer run Plex on my Samsung Smart TV which is about 10 years old.
Although I can start up the app on the TV, all that displays is “Preferences”, “Shared Content”, “Queue” and “Quit” (repeated multiple times) and it doesn’t actually connect to the server, even though it shows me under Preferences as being signed in. Under “Preferences” it also shows the server with a red X meaning that the server is not connected. It also still shows the old server (previous computer, as not connected) despite my removing it on the server.
If I sign out and then sign back in after linking via Plex TV, this all works in logging back in except that nothing changes and the server remains unconnected.
Is anyone able to suggest how I can fix this problem?

Further to my earlier post, I removed the Plex App from the TV and then reinstalled the latest version. Apart from no longer showing the old PC server (previously shown as not available), it hasn’t changed anything. If I select the new server it simply tells me that the server is currently unavailable.
When I look at the authorised devices on the server, the TV is shown but with a red X and I cannot see any way of doing anything on the server to let it connect to the TV.
The only difference in the last couple of days from previously is switching the server over to the new laptop. This laptop is running Windows 10 Home but I don’t see that would have anything to do with my problem.
I would appreciate any advice that could help resolve my problem.

I’m guessing maybe turn off secure connections on your server if it is on. The app that runs on that model TV was not made by us but a third party user who no longer updates it anymore for personal reasons. It might not be compatible with current versions of the server anymore.

Good guess, but set it to Preferred
Also make sure, that the checkbox named Disable weak TLS versions is NOT selected

You can find both settings in Settings/Network

Thanks for your comments.
I have checked the settings and found they they are the same as you have said. As regards the suggestion about compatibility issues, this is not the case.
In order to check this I uninstalled the server software version 1.19.3.1079 (the latest available according to my server software) and installed version 1.15.6.1079. I found that it made no difference.
I then rebooted my previous laptop and reinstalled the earlier version above (which worked on the TV) and then updated it to the latest version above which also works on the TV.
Both the old and the new laptops are running Windows Home, albeit the new one has a more recent version and OS Build. They both also have a 64 bit OS and x64 based processors.
Given the foregoing there appears to be no logical reason why the old Lenovo works but the new Dell doesn’t.
Can you offer any other suggestions as to what the problem may be please?

I might add that I checked that all the settings on both of the computers was exactly the same.

Try this:

  • Remove app from Samsung
  • Power off Samsung
  • Unplug power cord of Samsung (IMPORTANT!)
  • Wait for at least 3 min.
  • Plug TV back in, and install Samsung App

It should now be 100% reset, and asking for a link code

I have tried what you suggested but I still have the same problem
I can’t imagine how but is there a possibility that something in the default firewall settings could be preventing the connection to the TV? If so can you suggest where I might look and what I may have to do to fix it please.

Following my previous posts, my son has just had a look and changed a few of the network settings and it now all works.
Thanks all for your efforts.
