Hey everyone,
I have a weird issue with my Samsung smart tv. It’s a Tizen model, from 2017.
When streaming video it’s pretty flawless, except when it has FLAC audio - Then it appears that the server will not start a transcode session, and error out with:
“Multimedia file format not supported Error code: PLAYER_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED_FORMAT(avplay).”
I have three movies that exibit the exact same behavior, all three have FLAC audio.
I’m able to overcome this by going to the video options in the tizen plex app, and turn off “allow direct play” and “allow direct stream”.
Then the server starts transcoding the FLAC to EAC3, and the movies work great.
I also have a Mi box 3, on which I cannot replicate this behavior, and on an iphone, this also does not happen. Based on the devices that I have, It would appear that the issue happens only on the tizen app.
Any chance of this being something on my side, or is it a bug on the tizen app?
To replicate, it would seem that any video with FLAC audio will do.
Some feedback would be nice.
Anyway, I have tried other media, all videos with.flac audio do not trigger a transcode session ever.
The only way to overcome this is to manually turn off direct stream and direct play options to force a transcode.
This does not seem right at all, assuming that the Samsung OS does not have Flac codecs it should automatically start a transcode session for the audio - seeing how the video plays fine.
@sLumpy tagging you again because the issue persists and no feedback was offered.
Could you please inform if the issue is known and in backlog to be addressed please? Thank you kindly for you hard work!
That’s strange, flac should trigger transcode since it’s not a supported codec. I’ll log an internal issue to look at it. Your best bet for now is to probably run the video through Handbrake or something similar and convert the flac audio to something else so you can continue to direct play the videos.
Damn it, I totally forgot to get back on this topic. Gimme a few minutes while I find a way to share a video or something that triggers the issue. @medionvorpsi_gmail_com can you do the same thing?
Share a video and I’ll test it on my side.
Any update @medionvorpsi_gmail_com , @sLumpy?
Tagging just to keep momentum going, though with the Plex outtage the other day I’m not sure this can be classified as a priority
