Same problem here, the app in tv (I have a samsung ue46es8000) doesn’t show the pin code and I can’t link my server with the tv.

I too have just discovered the same issue with the blank 4 boxes on toy samsung tv. Is Samsung on a mission to make the once enjoyable experience of having one of their tv’s now becoming a major regret.

None of my friends can no longer connect to my server either.

It looks like there are two issues here:

  1. an issue related to the device not supporting TLS 1.2, which could affect some pre-Tizen models (mostly released before 2016). With a link screen that looks similar to: Samsung tv link code is mising

  2. Issues on some Tizen Full HD models

If you’re on a pre-Tizen device the issue is with the TV software and not something we can assist with, there may be a software update that adds TLS 1.2 support available, but otherwise it will be unable to connect to our services.

If you’re on a Tizen Full HD (2016+) device with a similar issue, please see Error login LG webOS 4 and LG netCast, but the issue should now be resolved.

My TV (Samsung ES8000) was released in 2012 and I have the firmware 2023 (06/12/2019) so I think that will never support TLS 1.2 unfortunately.

Witha Fire Stick can I solve the problem?

This or any other add-on device which has a Plex client, like Apple TV, nVidia Shield, Roku, or generic Android TV boxes.
Even Chromecast can be used in conjuction with a Plex app on a phone or tablet.

I have the same problem. I have try to configure manually PSM but when I inser server’s IP app tell me that I need to authenticate on my Plex account. But I can’t connect on it from my tv.

I think simply laying the blame at Samsung’s door is a little disingenuous (even if Tizen is notoriously painful to work with) http connections don’t use TLS and if I have a single server set to “insecure” then the plex client doesn’t use https. Plex can choose to continue to support TLS 1.0 and 1.1 so simply saying that this issue is due to TLS 1.2 support doesn’t sound like the whole story.

I have 3 pre-2016 Samsung TVs that work fine with every other app I’ve been using for the last few years except Plex.

I can’t even get it to go manually. The server is set to support the legacy protocols. So what gives?

Same here, rather old Samsung tv. Was able to add the server after adding the TV to the list of IP s that don’t need authentication, but didn’t solve the problem, it still can’t connect.

Is it our app or the Smart Hub app. How old are we talking about? What model

Hi
I have moved my PlexServer to a new Machine-
Now i realized the the Samsung TV (UE46ES7080UXZG)
doesn’t show the numbers to be entered into plex.tv/link
I was able to overcome the Problem by defining the IP of the TV in Plex -
But it still doesn’t solve the Problem, that i am not able to logon with my PlexPass User on the TV.

Do i really have to buy a new TV :frowning:

The Smart part of your TV is getting old, and sadly Samsung doesn’t provide updates to it anymore, so it could use newer web security encryption, that is now mandatory.
