Samsung Tv Series 8 app not showing all episodes

Server Version#: 1.22.3.4392

Have a weird issue where the Samsung app will show a new episode on the home screen but when you click on it and it jumps to the series it’s not there (plus others)

Same goes for if I just navigate into a series I can see say 1-16, but 17 and 18 are missing. Via a web browser I see them all.

If the latest episode has not been played then from the series I can choose “Next Episode” and it will play, just can’t see it.

+1 to this issue. Watching on other devices (e.g. Nvidia Shield) isn’t affected. It sounds like webOS has similar troubles too (New episodes missing on season page with LG app).

The only way I can get it to show is to start playing the episode it highlights (normally episode 1) then to stop that episode immediately and scroll across to the right where the episode has now magically appeared

Since my thread about the same problem on LG TVs was linked above I’ll provide my information about the LG app - because I assume both bugs have the same root cause.

I do not have any shows twice in my library.
In general, the bug doesn’t just affect a single show. It seems to happen randomly across all my TV shows. It also doesn’t happen regularly. Most of the time everything is fine. But about 1 of 5 (or maybe even 1 of 10) new episodes have the problem.

@BigWheel – No, library and the home carousels (e.g. recently added shows) are unaffected. This only happens when you reach a season page.

I also tried @Ardraaken’s trick above, but it didn’t work for me.

I have this exact problem/bug on my Samsung QE75Q80T.

But no issue if I use my Nvidia Shield or in the browser on desktop.

Can one of you please look at the GUID of one of the episodes that is missing and one of the showing episodes. in the web app get info then view xml for the episodes. in the xml the guid will look something like this.

Episode which shows: com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb://194031/11/19?lang=en
Episode which doesn’t: com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb://194031/11/22?lang=en

I don’t see anything using a plex:// URL scheme in the XML.

That one was missing for me: guid=“plex://episode/609bfecdb9329e002c5756b5”
And this one was showing fine: guid=“plex://episode/609bfecdb9329e002c5756b6”

In case it’s important: The episode was missing before, but isn’t any more now. Once I play a “missing” episode via my workaround it is visible on the season page.

@JamieKeene thats fine. it just means you are still using the legacy tv agent. I just wanted to confirm they are both using the same agent.

I am curious if this generally only happens with new episodes you just added or has it happened with episodes which have been there for a while.

Sod’s law – updated my server and I can’t repro the issue. I’ll post again if that changes.

For me, I only ever noticed the problem with recently (max about 7 days ago) added episodes. Or to put it in another way: I only ever noticed it with episodes that are the latest of their current show.

I’m already on the latest (public) server version.

Recently started getting this issue over the last few weeks.

Plex on the SamsungTV will show there’s a new episode, but selecting the series does not show the new episode.

I’ve been having the same issue for at least 2-3 months. Latest Plex server and whatever the latest Plex Samsung app is as far as I can tell.

This has started happening to me today. The show loads normally in iOS Plex app, Firefox for windows and Mac OS safari web app, and android. But on Samsung TV latest version it shows the new episode on the home page, but when selected it takes you to the episode list for that season, while still showing the description text for the new episode at the top. Issue persists despite soft and full restarts of TV, resetting Plex app and reinstalling. Other tricks don’t seem to help.

Happening for me on Samsung TV and Xbox One app. Started a while back and library re scan usually fixes it but today it doesn’t seem to.

Edit - Can confirm that starting the first ep in the season then stopping it causes the missing one to appear

Having the same issue on my LG, and have been having it for a long time :frowning:

yup… been happening for a long time now…
I have a show with now 6 eps… deck shows something like “Show S8 E5” for up next… but when you click on it Plex only lists the first 4 episodes, all marked as watched…

if I click PLAY ep5 does play… its just not showing

I’m in the same boat with my Samsung 8k series. Super annoying. Reinstalling the app doesn’t seem to resolve it either. Any word on a resolution?
