Scan channels not working

I see this comes up on a regular basis and never gets an answer! but will try again as previous ones have hit the 3 month time out.
Just installed the update and there have been a few changes to Freeview so wanted to get those channels they are listed on the guide but do not work, so I hit scan channels. and get the “Awaiting channel scan” with a flashing 12:00 but no channel scan happens.
Any ideas out there?

Same issue for me. Did you ever get it working?

No, it is still not working I have given up on it, Plex is OK for my music, but pretty rubbish for live TV, get it working after lots of messing about, next update kills it again.

I have just purchased a plex pass and have this exact issue. I’ve got server 2016 and dual hdhomerun tuners. Plex can you please provide an update. I feel like I just wasted $200 (Australian dollars) as I only got the plex pass for the dvr capability. I have rebooted my pc as well. Thanks

I am getting the same thing.

Hauppauge WinTV dual plugged into a usb. I am thinking maybe it needs to say usb instead of PCIe. Even when I unplug the Hauppauge, it still shows the screen the original poster has (PCIe). When I click SCAN CHANNELS - it takes awhile and says no channels found.

I don’t know how to get it it see my USB tuner.

We’ll, I just tried again today and it’s working. Except now it scans but I can’t get past the choose your epg. Oh well, I’ keep trying.
I haven’t done anything to the thing either, weird.

I’ve got the same problem here, I updated my aerial and now I’m in the same boat, scan channels isn’t working???

Mine’s all working now. I had to use a free mxl epg for Australia. Still don’t know why it started working

I have the channel scan issue with the latest release of plex (1.21.0.3711).
After updating everything was working initially until one day it wasn’t. All my stations just stopped working so I tried to do a channel scan and after hitting the button nothing happens. It just sits there and doesn’t even show 0%. I ended up reverting the build a few versions back to 1.19.5.3112, ran the scan again and all is working now.

I’m running Windows 10 with a Hauppauge HVR-2255.

PS. The reason I reverted to such an older version is because one of the 1.20 releases stopped my recordings from working all together but I can’t remember which one it was.

I am also experiencing the same issue. Plex recognizes my tuner as a QAM instead of ATSC and then the scan channels is stuck. Anyone has had luck with this? Would you recommend going back to the old release? I have it working in media portal but trying to see if I can use plex since I bought the plex pass

FWIW, I had the same issue – clicking Scan Channels would only show 12:00 and Awaiting Channel Scan without every doing anything more. I deleted all scheduled recordings, deleted my DVR, and rebooted. Afterwards I re-setup my DVR and Scan Channels is now working. I am using version 1.21.1.3830.

I’m having the same issue reported above (channel scan doesn’t seem to do anything). I had it setup and working fine, then one day no live TV at all, go into plex setup and its like my DVR was deleted, no idea why/how, but I go to add it back again, and it will not scan. Don’t know if maybe the old one is still there behind the scenes somewhere and that is the root cause? Not sure how to delete the old if I can’t see it. Tried rebooting and it didn’t help.

Hmm eventually got the scan to work, all I did was right click the plex icon in windows, exit, then restart plex, then go back into settings, live TV and DVR setup, then it found my device and scan started working. Not sure why plex keeps losing my DVR/LiveTV though, hopefully it won’t happen again.

THANK YOU!! This worked for me too.

I run three instances of Plex server on three servers.

  1. windows 7 used for backup using backup of media
  2. windows 7 used for testing using same media as master
    3 ) windows 10 master. Plex server
My windows 7 servers work fine. But I cannot get the Windows 10 running Plex server to scan channels. I know my HDHome Run Duo is setup correctly because my backup and testing server works. I just cannot get it to work under Windows 10.
Any suggestions to get to work under windows 10 would be appreciated.
    Any suggestions

This worked for me. Thanks.

Worked for me too w/ Hauppauge 2250, windows 10 and 1.21.2.3918

This worked for me too w/Hauppauge 2250, windows 10 and 1.21.3876 - to be clear. What worked to fix the issue is right-clicking the server icon in the windows status bar and selecting Exit. Then navigating to the Plex folder in the start menu and running the Plex server again. Then I could scan channels.

I was running PMS 1.21.2…23943 which I think came out a couple of weeks ago. Suddenly I received loads of recording failures. So after checking all the hardware (it was fine), I rolled back to Oct’20 version 1.20.3.3437 and re-setup up the DVRs no problem at all.

Same issue here. I too feel like I wasted money on a lifetime Plex pass. Why can’t they FIX THIS!!!
