Scan new file doesn't work

Hi,

I just get the update of plex media server version “PlexMediaServer-1.16.3.1433-359b06978-x86_64” for my Synology NAS.
And now when I want to scan a new file doesn’t work

Bonjour,

Server Version# :Lifetime Plex Pass
Player Version#: NAS Synology

perhaps Plex Media Server security changes for Synology users

I also have the latest synology server Version 1.16.5.1554 ! and Synology DS 6.2.2-24922-update 3 as of 08/28/2019. and now when I add a new folder or files to my TV shows folder it no longer sees the new files or scan them, plus when I do a manual scan library on the TV shows folder it does NOT show the new files.

Also this NEW way to show the files , where you have to slide the tiles to the right to see them . SUCKS ! What was wrong with the old way ? when you had too many to show up on the screen you had a alphabet on the right side of the screen , so a person could click on the letter you wanted and you could jump DIRECTLY to those shows under that letter.

last but not least I read your security post and went into the control panel and put plex back as administrator privilegs and the ability to READ / WRITE to the folders . this did NOT fix it from discovering NEW files added .

could use some help as I just added 3 sets of tv shows

thank you

@OttoKerner . thanks your tip did work. I set Plex server permissions back to Admin and gave it read write access . BUT I forgot to shut down the server and start it back up.

Happy to say it is now seeing the new folders and the tiles are back to the way they were 3 updates ago. I guess I need to re-start the server from time to time? I thought when you update since the server is shut down & restarted it would rest itself ?

I am no Synology expert, but that is the opposite of what the linked article asks you to do.
The whole point is that Plex is now running as the user account plex. So this user needs ‘read/write’ access to the Plex data folder
and at least ‘read’ access to the media folders.

ok . I will try setting it back to non admin, and keep the red/write settings. for some reason it no loanger had read/write. that might fix it too. but since I do not have outside access to it, I doubt it would be a problem.

thanks again
