Server Version#: 4.139.0
Plex server on Raspberry Pi 5 crashes while scanning whenever a large amount of media is added at once, even after I changed the setting in the Plex Dash android app to say “run scanner tasks at a lower priority.” It seems to be stable all other times.
Media is on a 90% full 18 TB Western Digital EasyStore external drive which has its own power supply and is formated NTFS as the hard drive is accessed to add or remove media over samba with a Windows 10 laptop.
Using official Raspberry Pi 5 power adapter. 128 GB SanDisk Extreme for running the OS. Have done multiple clean installations where this happens every time (formated microsd card and put on fresh install of Raspbian and Plex without transfering anything over from old Plex installation). Prior to this everything worked fine for a good 6 months or more and then suddenly started having issues. Running latest stable version of Raspbian. Was running 64 bit full Raspbian install but for this last format decided to see if running 64 bit Lite made a difference since I am using Putty/SSH to access Pi most of the time anyway. It did not change anything.
Have not been able to catch anything in either Plex logs or journalctl. Im happy to upload whatever logs is most helpful here (I am assuming assuming Plex Media Server.1 since should be most recent after crash?)
To however helps thank you!
Edit: Crashes entire Pi not just Plex server, although there have been a few times where I would still be able to access 18TB drive over samba. Many times I have been able to SSH into the Pi, get the user and password prompt, it will even tell me if I get the password wrong, but would hang for any command I would give it from there.
One of the many things I tried was also running chkdsk /f /r /x on a Windows 10 laptop which cleaned up some unused indexes but thats it. I also installed Plex Media Server on that laptop and threw the entire 90% full 18TB drive of media at it at once and it was perfectly fine with it.
